silent one Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 (edited) Im just learning how to use GBU's Im having a problem with laze time. I set for changes for the profile. I get into the profile page and set auto laze. Ok so far. I dont know if I put time in from the scratch pad and then press laze time or other way around. Ive tried both and neither work. Its like Im not getting anything from the scratch pad. Laze time in the profile is defaulted to 0 seconds. not really useful and I cant alter it. This happens both in the training mission and in quick mission. I had this problem with the beta and thought it a bug. Now is first time with 1.07 and its still doing it. Hope someone can help here. The Flying Goose Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Input time on scratch pad, press the Lase time OSB on MFCD. This is the same way to input any values into the MFCDs. This should work. If this doesn't work, post track. Q6600 @ 2.4 GHz, Sapphire 5870, TM Warthog, 4 GB RAM, Windows 7
rob10 Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Just to make sure you're not overlooking the obvious: it is a GBU-10 or GBU-12 rather than a GBU-31 or 38 right? The 31/38 are GPS guided so you can't set a lase time. Can't remember if it has the option in the DSMS for the 31/38. Otherwise make sure you're pressing the right OSB. Depending on your view angle I find sometimes the OSB I think I'm pressing is actually the one above or below the one I'm actually pressing (hover the mouse over it and make sure the tool-tip has the proper description rather than OSB XX).
Baggy MacDouche Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 The GBU-31/38 profile page won't even have settings for LS Time available. Also, if you happen to make a mistake in the scratchpad or input an invalid entry, you will see the message, "CICU INPUT ERROR" at the bottom of the HUD, as well as the CDU. If this happens, press the CLR button to clear the scratchpad entry field and start again. xXstubbifiedXx Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I think there's a bug with the system, TBH. I've gone in and set my GBU-12's to be CCRP, 10s las time and laser on, saved the profile and then when I tried to use the weapon, the laser never fired. Check the profile - back to defaults. Not sure how it happens. It's even reset some times after double-checking them. But it doesn't happen all that often and it seems totally random. Still annoying when I get down to that last GBU and it doesn't lase :'( [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] -------------------------------------------------- Joshua Stubbles, Environment Artist - i5-2400K @ 3.8ghz | Thermaltake Frio CPU cooling | ASUS P8P67 Pro Rev3.1 | 8GB Corsair Dominator @1600mhz | 2x GeForce GTS250 SLI AF2 | 2x WDHDD 500GB RAID 0 | Thermaltake Armor case | Thermaltake Tough Power 850w PSU | Samsung BX2440X | BenQ FP202W | Saitek X52 Pro | Thrustmaster Cougar MFD | TrackIR4 Pro
Baggy MacDouche Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I don't think it is a bug. I think it has something to do with using the DMS to cycle weapon profiles. It will select the default profile unless you manually select the saved profile from the DSMS. Something like that. There's a thread about that somewhere. Yeah big help I am. ;p Corsair Graphite 780T / ASUS Maximus VIII Hero / i7-6700K@4.5GHz / Corsair H110i / 32GB DDR4 PC-2666 / ASUS 1080 Strix / EVGA 850 Pro / Samsung 950 Pro M.2 SSD / Win10x64 / Samsung UN48JU7500 4k / Logitech G910/933 KB/Headphones / Razer Naga Epic Mouse / MFG Crosswinds / TM HOTAS Warthog / HTC Vive

silent one Posted May 4, 2011 Author Posted May 4, 2011 The manual could be a bit more helpful here I think. Thanks for the input to those that made positive contributions.

Just to slightly restate things to make it (maybe) clearer: That's because when you choose a single weapon by clicking its OSB in the DSMS you're telling the A-10 to load up the default profile for that weapon (NOT the profile you changed earlier). If you want the profile you changed earlier, you'll have to select it from the DSMS profile page. --NoJoe

Frederf Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Manual (/M) profiles are the devil! The manual should have a big red box warning of the difference between the /M profiles and the normal profiles. YouTube videos that use /M without a caution note are also the devil. Many users and myself have had problems because of this very important point.
