112th_Rossi Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Just reading through the A10 wiki and it mentions that the C models are being upgraded with Helmet Mounted Integrated Targetting system (HMIT) and are due for completion in 2011. In July 2010, the USAF issued Raytheon a contract to integrate a Helmet Mounted Integrated Targeting (HMIT) system into A-10Cs.[27] The Government Accounting Office in 2007 estimated the cost of upgrading, refurbishing, and service life extension plans for the A-10 force to total $2.25 billion through 2013.[3] Modifications to provide precision weapons capability are well underway.[27] The Air Force Material Command's Ogden Air Logistics Center at Hill AFB, Utah completed work on its 100th A-10 precision engagement upgrade in January 2008.[28] The C model upgrades are to be completed in 2011.[29] Just wondered if ED are considering implementing this? It would be awesome.

I am probably going to guess that this was dropped from the inital program, and maybe scrapped all togeather or just put on the back-burner for a later date. I haven't heard of any A-10 units flying a HMC system as of this current time, they could be in the test units however.
112th_Rossi Posted May 9, 2011 Author Posted May 9, 2011 There was an Air to Air HMIT system on the MiG-29s and Su's as I remember. Worked really well with TrackIR.
Shinigami Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 in FC 2 ???? Dam I which I could buy a TraKir 4 at least I only have the webcam mod with a code revision of my self La guerra, asi como es madrastra de los cobardes, es madre de los valientes. Cervantes. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
sobek Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Just wondered if ED are considering implementing this? It would be awesome. Since the suite they were allowed to model didn't have it, i'd say the chances are slim to nil. Although i do agree that some HMCS would be awesome. :) Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Shinigami Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 the most difficult part will be the knowing how the system work, cause if you know how it work is not very difficult to implement. Sigh!!! It would be very interesting programing that sht, I which I could work in it. Shinigami Out... La guerra, asi como es madrastra de los cobardes, es madre de los valientes. Cervantes. Speed Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 I can't count the number of times in DCS A-10 that I have desperately wished for a helmet mounted sight. Usually, by the time I can get my nose swung around to cue the targetting pod or HUD square thingie on some small and hard to spot target I visually spotted, I've lost sight of it. And I run with TIR. Alas, it's highly unlikely that they would add anything like this to A-10C. First, it has to be added in real life. Secondly, I believe that ED only got permission to model this very specific model of the A-10C, and they don't get to add upgrades to the sim A-10C as upgrades are applied to the real life A-10C. Intelligent discourse can only begin with the honest admission of your own fallibility. flow-master Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Warthog needs helmet targeting just like desert needs water. It a little stange that they did not include this feature in the A-10C upgrade. TGP is very powerful sensor but so slow when you spot something and you want slew TGP on the spotted thing. Just a simple reticle (like one in Ka-50`s HMS) would make great difference in speed of target acquisition. You see something suspicious on the ground and in the next second you have it on the TGP.

There is no 'the A-10C upgrade'. There are different suites of C models, the one that ED got permission to model by the USAF did not have HMCS (then). Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.
