hannibal Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 well, my project cut short. i was in the process of making a touch buddy profile up until i found out that NOT all the commands in DCS A-10C Warthog have default keyboard mappings. A) Does anyone have a list of recommended keyboard commands for ALL control assignments in DCS A-10C???? or B) Or those who use the DCS iControl via iPad, I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW inputs are sent.. is it though .lua, or is it sending keyboard commands??? THANK YOU I would like to continue my touchbuddy profile build. thanks! find me on steam! username: Hannibal_A101A http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197969447179
Gadroc Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Hannibal... Download Helios. All the bindings are built in. It does everything touchbuddy does.
hannibal Posted May 10, 2011 Author Posted May 10, 2011 sounds good. so how does one setup helios? does it require a special keyboard config file dropped into Config\Input\Aircrafts\A-10C\keyboard ?? find me on steam! username: Hannibal_A101A http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197969447179
hannibal Posted May 10, 2011 Author Posted May 10, 2011 (edited) i have 7" LCDs i can not use helios, unless i can flip through menus and screens... dont get me wrong i didnt get into it much, but it just seems like Helios will display ONE screen of panels... from all the phtotos users put up with touchbuddy i can make levels of screens, as in i can make one screen page dedicated to the CDU, which i can have a function to bring me to a main menu, and from that main menu i can go to another screen page dedicated to the TACAN panel.. etc..... can Helios do this? hannibal Posted May 10, 2011 Author Posted May 10, 2011 Hannibal... Download Helios. All the bindings are built in. It does everything touchbuddy does. can u tell me about the bindings? is that function through keyboard commands or via .lua scripting? find me on steam! username: Hannibal_A101A http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197969447179
hannibal Posted May 10, 2011 Author Posted May 10, 2011 ok. so it is NOT keyboard commands. Mr Gadroc, your software is pretty amazing. so much for my custom touchbuddy build.. :( find me on steam! username: Hannibal_A101A http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197969447179

hannibal Posted May 10, 2011 Author Posted May 10, 2011 (edited) i just have to figure out if helios does pages of screens.. instead of just one screen of panels.. Edited May 10, 2011 by hannibal find me on steam! username: Hannibal_A101A http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197969447179
airdog Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Helios will do pages and then you can make your own buttons to go to each page. Airdog | Asus ROG Strix Z370-E Mobo | i7 8700K @ 4.7 | 32 GB DDR4@3200mhz | Gigabyte 2080Ti OC 11GB| Samsung M.2 960 Evo 250Gb and 500Gb | Win10 Pro | Hotas Warthog #02743 | Track IR 5 | Toshiba 47" 120hz LED | Acer 23" Touchscreen | HELIOS |Oculus Rift-S| http://www.blackknightssquadron.com/
hannibal Posted May 10, 2011 Author Posted May 10, 2011 i was reading that helios is so so over a network PC. i think im just going to map each keyboard key and use touchbuddy over the network. touchbuddy is easy from what i have seen compared to the helios editor find me on steam! username: Hannibal_A101A http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197969447179
Gadroc Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 If all you are doing is DCS helios works just fine over a network. Just set the IP address on the DCS config screen to that of your remote PC. All DCS bindings will work across the network. What does not work is keyboard. The bindings concept is a little steeper curve than touchbuddy, but there is alot more that can be done. Newer versions in the works which will have full support for network client/server type modes. If you have any questions on how to get something done just post over on the SCSimulations forums and I or someone else will help you through it.

IF Helios depends on .lua, what happens if i join a server that restricts .lua output to prevent cheating? i remember the LOVP lockon virtual panel requires .lua to be turned on in order to see the gauges. but when i joined the 59th or 104th at the time (lock on 1.12b) the LOVP DID NOT WORK... (i think something to do with stringent integrity check), but other servers work Edited May 11, 2011 by hannibal find me on steam! username: Hannibal_A101A http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197969447179

(i think something to do with stringent integrity check), but other servers work Yes this is true. Lock-on exposed far more data to the lua export than BlackShark and A-10C which allowed for "cheating" to know where everyone was. This lead to several public dog-fight Lock-On servers to prevent modifications of the Export.lua.
hannibal Posted May 11, 2011 Author Posted May 11, 2011 Ok thanks for replying. I'm skeptical about working with something that depends on .lua because of this, at some point I would think the majortity of pilots will end up on a few servers, and I hate to have worked on something that won't work on those servers. I will think about working with helios.. Its effin awesome that you can send mfcd datato a networked computer. I have to debate on programming keyboard keys or learn helios. I'm also worried that profiles made now might not work in your final build. find me on steam! username: Hannibal_A101A http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197969447179
