Nixon Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 How cool would it be to have a mission creator for the iPad? I go away for work quite a bit and instead of just watching porn in the hotel I'd love to spend a couple days building a mission then move it on to my rig when I get home. Is this remotely possible?

Backy 51 Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 Maybe you could remote in to your desktop from your iPad ... but I doubt the performance would be good enough to run the mission editor or manipulate the ME tools. I don't need no stinkin' GPS! (except for PGMs :D) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Bahger Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 It's a great idea, though...less ambitiously, I've been thinking along the same lines, of an ME "module" that could run independently of the sim, i.e. an independent .exe that you could install on laptops which could never run the sim itself. Does anyone think that's possible?
Druid_ Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 trouble is, you need to run the sim to check on unit positions, trigger activations, logic, unit engagement profiles etc etc. Having said that, the ME is already a stand alone program, it calls DCS.exe when you click on FLY mission. Might be nice to be able to throw some stuff together on a standalone ME.exe and then test it on your PC later. i7-7700K : 16Gb DDR4 2800 Mhz : Asus Mobo : 2TB HDD : Intel 520 SSD 240gb : RTX 2080ti: Win10 64pro : Dx10 : TrackiR4 : TM Warthog : ASUS ROG SWIFT PG348Q
Nixon Posted May 15, 2011 Author Posted May 15, 2011 Even if there was something close? With busy season at work and a preggo wife flight time is getting harder and harder to come by. When I do get a couple hours to fly I always kinda wanna just jump in there and drop some iron and never seem to get any good missions made. Eh, maybe it's just wishful thinking but I would shell out some decent dough for a stand alone ME.
Terrx Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 .miz files are zips of two text files. The syntax isn't bad, It looks like a bunch of lua or luaish datastructures. So yeah, with some careful work or ED cooperation a standalone/iPad mission editor would be possible. However, the amount of time/effort needed to re-implement the reasonably complex mission editor interface for a niche segment of the community (people wanting a portable editor) for a niche game on a niche platform means it will almost certainly never happen. Plus, at best it would only duplicate the functionality of the existent editor
