I am building a new machine, feel a bit like a lemming but that’s another issue….

Although I may feel compelled to buy a new card down the road, at the moment I would like to use something I already have on hand. As the subject indicates, I have an MSI R5850 and an EVGA GTX470. The 470 has more memory but the 5850 has a slightly faster GPU, I seem to recall. Trying both is, of course, an option but I figured I might be able to get a feel for what others have experienced first, So I am looking for opinions.

The rest of the specs are:

ASUS P8P67 Pro Mobo

I7-2600K @3.4GHz

8 GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600

OCZ Vertex II 60GB SSD

WD Caviar Black 1TB

Corsair AX850 Pro Gold

Thanks in advance,

ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! Extreme 8GB, Corsair HX1000i, Phillips BDM4065UC 40" 4k monitor, VX2258 TouchScreen, TIR 5 w/ProClip, TM Warthog, VKB Gladiator Pro, Saitek X56, et. al., MFG Crosswind Pedals #1199, VolairSim Pit, Rift CV1

I've had a really iffy experience with Nvidia's 400-series (GTX 460, to be precise - I'll advocate ATI/AMD from now on) - but if it works, it works. You do seem to have the PSU for it. ;)

Use the radeon as your primary card, then the 470 as a PhysX card. :)

You get the best of both worlds.

Could work for most games but not for DCS. Still no PhysX for DCS.
