I hope not, because I really wanted to be able to re-use my current triple channel RAM. If you aim for the sky, you will never hit the ground. Dual/triple/quad channel isnt anything to do with the ram, its the motherboard, so just hook up 4 same or very similar sticks and bobs yer uncle. topdog Posted June 3, 2011 Share Posted June 3, 2011 You may not be required to buy additional RAM either, some boards today that run in higher modes will operate at the lower mode when less sticks of ram are used or mismatched anyway (i.e. 2x 4gb sticks and 1x 2gb stick in a duall channel board, if the bios allows it, will just run in single channel mode instead). Arguably there's not a need today for more than dual channel for consumer systems. As and when that changes, is likely to be a slow process and not something that will obsolete you overnight.
