:thumbup:Hello everyone I was wondering if there is a procedure list for all failed systems. Maybe this can be a sticky when they get all awnsered. I am hoping all the awnsers will help everyone not just me. Sorry this is gona be a mega post!

I have been flying this sim for about a month now and am still learning stuff everyday. What a great sim! Please note, I used the search for most of these but have found awnsers to be a bit confusing.

I get battle damage quite regurally and there are many times where it knocks out systems. I have figured out the basics but here are my questions. I have saved my questions to put them all in one place so there isnt 100 posts for these questions.

Questions:

1.) When getting hit my speed on the hud gets knocked out. Is there a switch or procedure to restore it back in the hud?

2.) The cdu sometimes go to astricks. I have found ways to fix this but is this a bug? it happens sometimes just flying around without battle damage. Someone please post a very simple and fast way to fix this. Someone said just reload something. But I didnt understand the procedure.

3.) I noticed since patch .08 the gun gets knocked out. I dont remember this happening before. The DSMS (weapons page screen) says XXXXXX where the round count is. Is the gun knocked out or is there a backup way of getting it back online?

4.) quite often the eac (autopoilot and stablizaton) get knocked out is there a way to get it reenabled with a backup system? I understand this system relies on a few things so maybe a step by step procudre to attpt to restore. Maybe change the nav mode in cdu then reenalble EAC? I dunno.

5.) I own the thustmaster hotas wathog. The trim switch is set to slew the view around. I like that. But is there a way (a button) to switch modes so it can be trim also while flying? Trim is nice to have on a controller when you take battle damage and you need to straigten the flying out.

6.) When an engine is hit I allways hope I can restart it. But it never does. Or it just kinda idles, you give it gas and it stalls. Has anyone ever restarted an engine that was stalled from battle damage? I try it everytime with no luck.

7.) I have done many tests with the jammer. Does it work? I have made test missions just to test it and I see no difference. I know there are profiles to use. I tried them all. But no change from the SAM time-to-fire or the effectiveness of evading. (sometimes I do get away but its random with or without jammer). And yes I press the button and see active operation while it jams. :joystick:

8.) When a mavierick is on for over 30min there is a check eo time warning. I ack the message. Will the maverick fail eventlly? Please tell your story if it has.

Thanks for the help! ;)

I'll answer what I know off the top of my head.

1.) When getting hit my speed on the hud gets knocked out. Is there a switch or procedure to restore it back in the hud?

If battle damage includes your right wing where your pitot tube is it could be a permanent failure. If your speed is still reading from your standby gauge then you can do an inflight bits test with the IFFCC switch on test to see if it's recoverable.

2.) The cdu sometimes go to astricks. I have found ways to fix this but is this a bug? it happens sometimes just flying around without battle damage. Someone please post a very simple and fast way to fix this. Someone said just reload something. But I didnt understand the procedure.

Not sure if it's a bug or what, I haven't had it happen since the 1108 patch and I think it's generated from the system failures stuff since I've turned those off in 1108. However when it did happen to me you can goto the waypoint page (func 3 --> waypoints) on the UFC and do a wapoint search in the scratch pad for "MSN001" and hit RLSK1 on the cdu to restore your cdu to working order.

3.) I noticed since patch .08 the gun gets knocked out. I dont remember this happening before. The DSMS (weapons page screen) says XXXXXX where the round count is. Is the gun knocked out or is there a backup way of getting it back online?

If it's an error you can try reloading your DSMS information. Long press a button on your MFCD till the loading screen comes up. Select "load" and place it on one of the bottom buttons. Once the page has returned to normal select the load button and "load dsms" to see if it returns to normal. If it doesn't then you have probably recieved unrecoverable damage to your gun.

4.) quite often the eac (autopoilot and stablizaton) get knocked out is there a way to get it reenabled with a backup system? I understand this system relies on a few things so maybe a step by step procudre to attpt to restore. Maybe change the nav mode in cdu then reenalble EAC? I dunno.

Sometimes damage has hit in a place that makes it not recoverable. However one of the things I do to see if it works again is to go to "func 2" on the UFC. Once there change your right MFCD to CDU and select align. once the align page opens up select flight or in flight can't remember how it's worded at the moment. This should realign all your navigation systems. Just be aware it will take a bit of time so go someplace safe.

6.) When an engine is hit I allways hope I can restart it. But it never does. Or it just kinda idles, you give it gas and it stalls. Has anyone ever restarted an engine that was stalled from battle damage? I try it everytime with no luck.

I would suggest opening up the manual, page 588, and start reading. There are several parameters you have to meet to perform different inflight restarts and it varies from situation to situation. So the best answer is read up and practice it!

7.) I have done many tests with the jammer. Does it work? I have made test missions just to test it and I see no difference. I know there are profiles to use. I tried them all. I'm sure it works, I haven't tested off to see how much less effective evasive actions are, however I would imagine it could be much worse.

I've never let mine for far enough I normally turn EO off if I know I'm not going to be using it and turn it back on ~4.5 minutes out from my next mission. However from what I've read if you leave them on it will mess up the missile.

I changed mine to default to the trims since I have a TIR5(You should get one of you don't already. If you can afford the WH, I'm sure it wouldn't be too much of a stretch. :))

Anyway, what you want to do is set up a button on your stick as a modifier. I made mine the little pinky switch and moved the NWS to the big pinky switch(just my personal pref). To assign a modifier, open the input settings in the options and click on the Modifier button at the bottom left of the screen to assign it to one of your WH buttons. Then you can use that when programming the hat on the stick. Leave the current assignments for views the way you have it and then assign the trims to the same hat but select your modifier button from the pull-down menu and you shouldn't see a conflict.

First, make sure you are actually using the active jammer which by default is assigned to the CMS Z-axis(or the push button of the CMS hat on your Warthog). You should see the jammer switch from STBY to a flashing OPR(something like that). I activate it as soon as something pops up on the RWR. Remember that it will time-out after a short while unless you have your CMS set to semi or auto. But it is always good to keep checking it. I prefer to use semi mode and use the CMS hat to start/stop CM deployment and let it automatically pick the program. Missile evasion itself is a whole other thing.

1.) When getting hit my speed on the hud gets knocked out. Is there a switch or procedure to restore it back in the hud?

You can flick your IFCC switch to test and chose ground speed to be displayed via the menu system, or I believe you can do it through the POS INFO page on the CDU. This uses the EGI calculated ground speed rather than the pitot static system.

Obviously using ground speed instead of IAS has its traps, so think about the wind and use the AoA primarily when on approach.

Its better than nothing though.
