ferretguy55 Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 (edited) How do you manually deploy flares and chaffs? Edited June 16, 2011 by ferretguy55
GGTharos Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Read up on the CMDS panel; it depends on what mode you set it on (Let's say, in your case SEMI or MAN), and what you do with the dispenser switch - left/right sets the program (which may dispense chaff, flares, or both) and forward starts the program, aft stops it. ferretguy55 Posted June 16, 2011 Author Posted June 16, 2011 i know how to set up the program for auto but not semi or manually
Depth Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Auto, semi and manual all work the same program, but you can trigger or stop the program on semi and manual. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
MTFDarkEagle Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 AUTO=all automatic, but does have manual stop SEMI=automatic selection of program, manual start required MAN=all manual It's all in the manual you know ;) Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
Frostiken Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Is the semi-auto mode implemented correctly? I always have it in Semi but it once bit me in the ass when a MANPAD was launched at me while AAA was locking me up. The stupid system thought a radar-guided missile was attacking and refused to let me change programs to a flare system. Seems like a retarded 'feature'. It was picking program M for me but when I tried to switch to another letter it'd just flip back to M. Result - chaff vs. IR guided missile = OH GOD OH GOD OHGOD [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
GGTharos Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 (edited) Reprogram M to drive out flares as well if you want; I'm not really certain what criteria one could implement into the CMDS logic and call it realistic - and I don't think we'll get that sort of criteria (or whether it can make the distinction) out of anyone who might know. - Will it be able to tell if it's being attacked by an IR missile despite the radar lock all on its own? - Is there something that permits the pilot to override the CMDS SEMI selection, and if so, when/why does it revert to automatic selection of the program? - Maybe that's why there's a MAN mode? :) Edited June 16, 2011 by GGTharos [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
rockyalexander Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Program M by default dispenses 20 flares at a rate of 1 per second. No chaff. Personally, I prefer to keep the system in Manual mode unless I'm being painted by radar threats.
GGTharos Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 I prefer to put it in AUTO or at least SEMI whenever I get close to the ground ... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
