Conure Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Definitely: just get the yanks, russians, chinese etcetera to press all their little buttons and we'll very quickly have ceased all war. :) Seriously, that's the only way I see war ending anytime soon. It's a shame, of course, but we won't be able to do a "world EU" where all economies are so tightly connected as to make war impossible within my lifetime, so there will be people with economic opportunities in war, others with ideological opportunities, and of course the ones with religious motivations. It's not about justification, it's about explanation. Oh I don't believe war will end any time soon - simply that with the right mentality that it could! It is certainly not beyond our genetic/cognitive capacity to live without war, so to speak. Shame, though... Pyroflash Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 I firmly believe that war is a completely separate entity from economy. I know of plenty U.S. citizens that hate the Chinese because of their government, even though our economies are almost inseparable. No, it is ignorance and hate that causes war, plain and simple. Nothing else even comes close to factoring in. It's like the old idiom "try as you may to make something foolproof, but nature has a way of always making a better fool". If you aim for the sky, you will never hit the ground.
nscode Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 It's nothing like love or hate. Those are only tools presented to those that actually have to fight a war in order to grasp it. Those who start it do it out of intrest. Economy can be a part of that intrest. Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
