zero Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 After setting the SPI with the TGP/TAD display (wedding cake stuff) I switch to Maverick display for a lock. First the display is rock steady, but may be I need to slew slightly - then the whole picture start to slide fast. There is pure luck if I can catch up target with the slewing- It takes a lot of passes in the Sitting Duck scenario to just get rid off Shilka. I have tried to fix HUD heading symbol on the SPI and then engage AP, but it takes time and not very useful. BTW: the AC rolls slightly to right with AP engaged, but I doubt this is the main issue. I really envy those guys (seen on youtube) who can slew the Maverick in a rock steady picture to a target and may lock and fire several times in a single pass... :joystick:
159th_Viper Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Set your Maverick slew speed to 2 or even 1. IIRC default is 5 and I agree - at default it sometimes zoots about like a fly on crack! Also remember to ground-stabilize the seeker with TMS Aft Short when it starts running away. Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? zero Posted June 29, 2011 Author Posted June 29, 2011 I have mine at 2 - but it is not the problem. It is the background picture that slides. I will try the ground stab. Guess it will help. :joystick:
159th_Viper Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 ......It is the background picture that slides..... That's the result of the airframe moving the seeker-picture over the ground whilst not ground-stabilized (think of sticking a camera out of the window of a moving car and attempting to take a picture of an object 20 metres in front of the vehicle before you pass the object). Range to target and a stable approach will largely negate that problem. Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? Click me to commence your Journey of Pillage and Plunder!
