Hey,

I'm trying to make a mission and I'm wondering of a couple of things.

1) In the campaign Georgian Hammer, you have CAP and SEAD flights on standby, and with the F10 menu you can call them in and they will start killing bandits and radars the player (A-10) noticed.

Once you do, they will say something down the lines of "Colt 3 pushing from waypoint 3 at 20000." So obviously they don't do anything until the player calls them in, which is I want in my mission when a random russian pop-up group appears. What's the best way to do this? (I know how to make the radio command appear in the F10 menu.)

I also have a couple of Su-27s patrolling across the russian border, so I had to set both the F-16s and the Su-27s to RETURN FIRE to keep them from shooting eachother down. It's a not out open war scenario, and I only want them to fire on specific russian units crossing the border.

2) I have an AFAC A-10 that I want to orbit at a waypoint without providing JTAC, then once something happens in the triggers, etc, I want it to enable it's JTAC and then still orbit. How do I do this? Can I order it to orbit once it has reached a certain waypoint and then use the trigger page on the unit to enable FAC - Attack Group with condition set to some time or flag? This didn't work when I tried it...

3) Also. I have a couple of waypoints called WP1, FENCE, IP, and TARGET, but somehow they are called WP2, FENCE1, IP1, and TARGET1 when in the simulator, oh, and the 51 waypoint is somehow called IP now and shows in the DIVERT page on the CDU...bug?

Nice plane on that gun...

Thanks for the reply, slackerD, a couple things.

1. So the way to go about this is to keep them in orbit a little bit away from where the bandits are with a HOLD FIRE or RETURN FIRE and then when the user asks them in with the F10 menu, it stops the orbit, then they continue to the next waypoint, which is the zone where the bandits are where there is an action Search And Engage with max distance say 10 nm to avoid them killing the other russians north of the border? Will they engage the trespassing bandits then on Search And Engage if ROE=RETURN FIRE, or do I explicitly have to turn this to OPEN FIRE? How do I make them say "Pushing from waypoint 2", etc?

Edit: Nevermind 1., got this working. They will say "On station at WPx" once they enter orbit, and "Pushing from WPx" when moving on. Had to set ROE to OPEN FIRE for them to actually engage. I removed CAP enroute task to avoid having them engage other flights, and then once on the next WP from the one they left orbit, I had them Search And Engage with 8 nm max distance. Did the same with the SEAD, worked like a charm. Thanks!

2. If I give an A-10 with the wp/actions below, will it then orbit, then move into another orbit whilst providing AFAC, or will it fly anywhere while providing AFAC, maybe into the zones I don't want it to fly, until the AFAC is complete, and THEN do the next orbit? I guess what I'm wondering is, will a unit ATTEMPT to do all the actions in a waypoint at once, or do them one at a time?

WP1:

orbit until 5 is true

WP2:

FAC - Attack Group("BLAH")

FAC - Attack Group("BLEH")

orbit in circle until 6 is true

3. But are there really names like WP1, FENCE, IP, etc, reserved names? I've seen them be used in other missions... And it's still wierd 51 shows up on the CDU DIVERT page as TOWEL1, one of my initial points. Also 2050 is used for TOWEL. Weird.

Sorry for all the questions, but it's nice knowing that there are people here willing to help a noob in learning... :)

Hmmm yeah, but there is certainly a bug that causes some errors in CDU? Because today I typed in TGT1 into the CDU, and then it automatically renamed it TGT2 for some reason. Also, this time a waypoint called 2050 was created with the name of BATUMI1, which was listed in the DIVERT page of the CDU in addition to 51 BATUMI. Weird stuff...

I have issues naming waypoints after the latest patch. When you preview the mission everything works fine but once you go online the waypoints with numbers in them get renumbered all wierd.

Whew I am not the only one that noticed that. If I remember correctly if you name it after you input the "#?" and "XX######" it will actually do the name that you put in. Personally I just leave it default with the "XX######" as the Waypoint name.
