J. Heller Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 I was wondering what the parameters for success are in this mission. The briefing says to support the advance of 2 companys to a certain point and then 1 company to another point. JTAC reports no further tasking available after killing a few tanks so I was wondering do i just fly around until the ground units get to where they are supposed to go? Please let me know, if you know.:helpsmilie: Win7 64 Gigabyte 790XTA-UD4P AMD Phenom II 965 BE@3.6Ghz 8GB ADATA Gaming series@1333 2X ASUS ATi 5770 1GB Stock in Crossfire Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer 2x WD Caviar Black 320GB HDD's 1000W Xion 80 plus Gaming series PS
GGTharos Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 I don't recall the missions, but you're probably correct. The idea is that you protect your own armor/mechanized infantry until they take ground. J. Heller Posted July 3, 2011 Author Posted July 3, 2011 I'm pretty sure this particular mission is broken, I noticed that a large bridge had been destroyed and civilian traffic was piled up on either side oerhaps preventing the units from getting where they had to go. Then something really weird happened. I lost all control of the sim and the screen began to stretch itself out into infinity. I tried to take a screenshot but it didnt work, this was very strange. It didnt cause a crash and I still had sound but I have never seen anything like this before in any sim or game. It has moved me on to mission 4-2-0 so I'll just keep going I guess. Wolf Rider Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 It was up around mission 18 (ish) (support Pine and Mace at night) in the campaign... a CTD, with Windows Error Reporting ofering to search for a solution which I cancelled. The sim came back at that point at the debriefing page and I was awarded the Silver Star. I had been attempting to set wind/ speed/ alt compensation in the LASTE The debrief had me and my wm as having landed back at Batumi, quite some distance away from the area the CTD occurred at. ? I have also had the stretch-to-infinity crash on Georgian Hammer missions that run over 45mins to an hour in the air or so. I believe it to be a memory restriction, and I would suggest lowering your scene settings to compensate....I'll try to investigate a little further though, as I can get it pretty consistently these days. A trick to seeing how the Units you are supporting are doing (and where they are trying to get to) is to use "f10" view. In f10 view, click on the M1a1 and M1a2 platoons that you are protecting (assuming you have activated them in the radio / f10-other selection)...it will show you their intended path and goal, + their current progress along that path. It is possible for the pathing to be broken so that they cannot continue (as you say as a result of a destroyed bridge) , however there is also AI that will re-path them if it is possible...ie if they are amphibious, they will ford the river amphibiously...if there is another bridge nearby, they will re-reroute to that bridge...etc.. If there is no viable path left thought, then they can get stuck as you say.

Hi there, I've seen this particular problem. I seem to have similar things happening to me on the Georgian Hammer campaign missions (not the first ones, a few missions in). I have a thread opened in 'crash' section - but no reply yet. I too had 'landed' status after some of the crashes, which was nicer than the latest crashes which simply fail my mission. I'm going to try reducing scene values and see if that helps at all.
