Your graphics card isnt compatible with direct x8.1. I had the same card before i upgraded. Your only choice is to upgrad your gpu.

Not necessarily true.

If you tweak the alpha channel in all the Hornet skins, you can get rid of the effect - it's covered in some detail elsewhere. I've never had to do it, and so unfortunately can't remember the exact solution . . . . but it's possible to solve it without a new graphics card.

A new graphics card would, however, be a nice option - be sure to ask for opinions if you go down that route ;)

well it isnt because of directx compability... I have Directx 9.0c installed.

Actually I'm planning to buy one, I would need some advice. I'll buy it on e-bay so it shouldnt cost much money.

Having DirectX9 installed and having a card that's compatible with it (ie: capable of using all it's functions) are two different things.

A new card is definately the best option for you, I'd suggest you consider another 512MB RAM as well. As far as the best card, I'll leave it to others to adice you there. I'm haven't got enough info to hand on those available to give you anything more than a personal opinion. Since I'm not thinking of upgrading at the moment I haven't been keeping up with the more recent developments.

Ahh . . . . . what version of DirectX you have installed makes no difference.

Whichever card you have installed (GeForce Mx?) doesn't support the Dx8.1 features - it just doesn't have the necessary hardware and circuitry to do it.

That's what he means by DirectX 8.1 compatible. It should run fine with any version of DirectX . . . . it just won't show the new graphics that Dx8.1 and above bring in.

Give us a clue about the rest of your system, and we can recommend a good graphics card to go with it :)

There's little point in buying a GeForce 7800 if the rest of your system is going to bottleneck it . . . . but of course there's no point in buying a GeForce 5600 if the rest of your system is bleeding edge, ice cool, burning hot, razor sharp or actually on fire ;)

(edit - I'm a muppet and can't read . . . . . but hey, it was a nice description :p

Aim for a total of 1024Mb DDR RAM . . . . and a high-level graphics card. 6800 Ultra, X800XT or thereabouts. Should go VERY nicely in that spec.

If you play Pacific Fighters or Doom 3, btw, go for the 6800 series. They can do shiny pixel shaders for PF (ohh, the water screenies) and uber-performance in Doom 3 . . . . the developers collaborated with Nvidia, And It Shows.)

Hi, its me again.

I just checked ebay for graphic cards and I think ill buy a GeForce FX 5500 or 5600 (both 256mb) Thats what I can afford. Is it good, what do you think?

I'm not aiming to have a razor sharp comp, I'll be satisfied if LOMAC runs without lag on medium specs.

btw my current comp:

I think you should save up for a 6600 ... seriously, purchasing a 5500 or 5600 would be a mistake at this point. You're better off playing on low settings for now and saving up for the 6600.

if you planning on gettin a nvidia 5xxx range card get the 5700ultra, best bang for your buck in the 5xxx range, dont get anything below it, and for not that much dearer you could get the 6600, which is a cool little card and will give you a big boost up from the mx440, not that much dearer than the 5xxx range but will outperform them easily....

Then you go onto the big cards, 6800, 6800gt 6800ultra, if you have money for one of them, get the gt, forget about the ultra as the gt is an ultra but just underclocked, and definetly forget about the vanilla 6800, they stoled some of the pipes on that card, they can be unlocked but the majority of times they are locked for a reason, cuz they are broke, also the 7800gt has just been released, = hundreds of "insert joo currency here", and only really worth it if you have high end system and are gaming every day in life, if you a casual gamer then there is no need to get the 7800gt/gtx.

Then there is the ati's, for cheap as f**k you could get the 9800pro, really nice card, and you can pick one up really cheap, I would skip all the other ati's until you get to the x800 range then basically anything in there is good enough, just like the 6800 range for nvidia, you will get good ones and not so good ones, but they will all do a decent job, some will do it better than others mind you, and thats what the x800xt platinum is all about, its the best of the x800 series, and cheaper than an equivelent nvidia card, but minus the shader 3.0

if you havent got that much cash to spend and you need a card now, then i would go for the 6600gt, if you have lots of cash either go for a 7800gt/gtx or ati x800xt platinum, or if you prefer to hold on, and if you do chances are the ati's and nvidia's will come down drastically in price then you will get a better deal nearer end of the year as nvidia have launched 2 new cards and ati just about to release there new range aswell thus making the other ranges come down in price.....

anything above 6600 is out of reach for my budget, so I think ill stick with it.

What's the diff between 6600 and 6600gt, I've noticed that the "gt" is 128mb and the normal 6600 is 256mb...

Here is what I found on E-Bay: GeForce 6600 list there is so many of them...

higher clock speeds is the only difference, there is 256mb 6600gts out there if i remember correctly, but either 6600 or 6600gt will give you a huge boost and you wont be dissappointed with whatever one you do settle on...

if you can get that little bit extra cash for the gt, get the gt as the higher clock speeds will help you in demanding games...

good vid card makers are:

MSI

GAINWARD

ASUS

XFX

EVGA

Too many to list but they are some of the top makers and off the top of my head, i have probably missed out some and no doubt someone will say what about them, but any card from these manufacturers and you wont go wrong...

that list you have link to, i would opt for the xfx 6600gt

I take that back, the MSI AGP 6600gt vivo $113, = really nice card and cheaper than the xfx by about $50 and one of the top vid card makers aswell, you cant go wrong with that one, if you have the cash for it...

The cause is in your videocard - the MX tecnology does not support shaiders which are used in F-18 model.

I had the same problem with the AIM-7 3d model, but once I installed a weapon skin on it, it solved the prob, so maybe if I had a skin for the F-18.... but I can't find any...
