BigBlue Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Hello All, First off, congratulations to DCS for raising the bar with PC Flight/Combat Sims!! Outstanding product, thank you!! I'm having a lot of fun learning the Warthog.......baby steps for me at the moment. However I'm stuck right now with understanding the WP search function of the CDU. Does the the CDU have a WP database default loaded? Does it use ICAO identifiers? or do i have to build the database manually in the mission editor? ......Likely I'm missing something altogether in trying to use this feature.
majapahit Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 just flip the Steer AAP numbers from 1-~60 or something and you see whats loaded (all airports) | VR goggles | Autopilot panel | Headtracker | TM HOTAS | G920 HOTAS | MS FFB 2 | Throttle Quadrants | 8600K | GTX 1080 | 64GB RAM| Win 10 x64 | Voicerecognition | 50" UHD TV monitor | 40" 1080p TV monitor | 2x 24" 1080p side monitors | 24" 1080p touchscreen |
Elwin Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 As far as I know, CDU is loaded only with your current mission waypoints and each airport has its waypoint too, they start from number 50 or 51 and one waypoint for anchor point (bullseye, number around 2049). These are added automatically. I don't know if there is a way to add more waypoints to a mission outside of these standard ones in mission editor, I never tried to do that. But you could use Prepare Mission function to create the waypoints in the CDU yourself and then whenever the mission is flown, the waypoints should be present (also never tried myself, anyone?).
majapahit Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 you can add waypoint in CDU "WP" etc (also offsets, Mark, Flightplans) search for tutorials on this | VR goggles | Autopilot panel | Headtracker | TM HOTAS | G920 HOTAS | MS FFB 2 | Throttle Quadrants | 8600K | GTX 1080 | 64GB RAM| Win 10 x64 | Voicerecognition | 50" UHD TV monitor | 40" 1080p TV monitor | 2x 24" 1080p side monitors | 24" 1080p touchscreen |
BigBlue Posted August 10, 2011 Author Posted August 10, 2011 Thanks for that. I'm now creating waypoints with and navigating steerpoints with ease!!
SmokeyTheLung Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 The "IP" point tool in the mission editor can also be used to pre-load any jet in the corresponding coalition with user made mission points (just change the IP callsign to a name of your choosing). Quite the handy feature if you want to avoid an overly complicated flight plan/are tired of entering mission points while flying :) System specifications: Computer, joystick, DCS world, Beer
