Direwolf Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Hi I'm having a problem since I installed TARS, 2 weeks ago. First, I installed version 1.0.0 Beta 11 and Team Speak 3 Beta 36, and tried to use them both in my DCS A-10C. Everytime I jumped to the game, TARS didn't kick in. I know that because I have two monitors, and I was monitoring TS3 Panel in one, while the other was handling the game itself. And the result always was the same "TARS not running". Besides, I never could interact with other players when in the game. Installation was Ok (TARS installed in green), we were using the same radio frequency (UHF 251.1), radio was on, I could even listen players talking, bu they could'nt listen to me. Reinstalled audio drivers, TARS and TS3 several times, and nothing happened. Yesterday, I installed the new combination TS3 RC2 +TARS 1.0.1 Beta, hoping my problem could be solved, but nothing again. I really don't know what else I could do, so I'm asking for help. I'm using TARS build 64, and running TARS and TS3 in administrator mode, Thanks in advance

Also make sure that you go into options - plugins - and make sure that there is a tick in the box beside TARS. We tried it the other night and it worked spot on. sounded different to the last release but still a quality addon! Hope this helps dude :music_whistling:
azl Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Dire, my crew has had problems w/ TARS too. It's awesome when it works, but sometimes it just doesn't. We had the same issue as you - TARS control panel showing that it was installed, not on standby, but TS3 would show "TARS not running" when in-game. I haven't upgraded to TARS 1.0.1 yet. You can troubleshoot where the problem is coming from by looking at these two files: C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS A-10C\Temp\TARS.log C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\TARS\tars-plugin.log If you want to paste those in here, maybe we can figure out where your problem is coming from. In our case, the logs were showing that the game wasn't exporting to TARS, so removing and reinstalling TARS worked. However, even now that it works, we still see some odd behavior with TARS. Sometimes I can be on VHF and my team can hear me on UHF. It also doesn't matter what freq I'm tuned to; we all hear each other.
Direwolf Posted August 11, 2011 Author Posted August 11, 2011 These are my logs. If someone understands what is happening, please help me to solve this problem. Thx in advancelogs.rar
Headspace Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 (edited) If you send your logs to the TARS website I can assist. There is a bug reporting form that you can attach your logs to. I set it up for that reason. In your case, DCS isn't talking to Teamspeak. If you altered the IP addresses in the TARS config, that may be why. It also doesn't matter what freq I'm tuned to; we all hear each other. That scenario isn't possible when TARS is running. Likely it somehow stopped for whoever was hearing everyone, or people were transmitting on a different radio than they thought they were. Edited August 11, 2011 by Headspace
Direwolf Posted August 11, 2011 Author Posted August 11, 2011 I'm trying to send a bug report since this morning, but there is a problem with that page. I filled all the blanks out, attached the same file you already saw, and when I prees "send", it appears a wheel that keeps spinning, spinning, spinning... But I can tell you some about my system:Windows 7 64bit, TS3 3.0.0 rc2, TARS 1.0.1 beta, DCS A-10 patch 1.0.0.9, Realtek HD 2.62 Audio Drivers. If you need some more information, I'll be glad to provide. Or any other way of communication you wish! Thx
Headspace Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Thanks, I'll check it out. I looked at your log--it's definitely not connecting to Teamspeak 3 from DCS. I would guess that maybe you altered the IP address settings in the control panel, is this the case?
Direwolf Posted August 11, 2011 Author Posted August 11, 2011 Not, that I know! What is the right IP configuration? I can try to modify it later!
azl Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 That scenario isn't possible when TARS is running. Likely it somehow stopped for whoever was hearing everyone, or people were transmitting on a different radio than they thought they were. Our trouble was TARS did not always update the radio freq being exported by DCS. So if one of us tuned away from a station, the TARS plugin in TS indicated we were still on the old station, thus unmuting anybody on the old station. TARS was still working because we were hearing the modulated audio.. It just thought we were still on an old freq. Love the app by the way
Headspace Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Our trouble was TARS did not always update the radio freq being exported by DCS. So if one of us tuned away from a station, the TARS plugin in TS indicated we were still on the old station, thus unmuting anybody on the old station. That isn't possible. If export stops, TARS will also stop. Something else was going on. I'm guessing that this had something to do with use of the last frequency dial in some of the earlier versions of A-10C. If you see this happening again, please provide logs. To get a clear picture, I would need logs from both the sender and receiver where the problem manifested.
Direwolf Posted August 11, 2011 Author Posted August 11, 2011 Headspace Why do I continue hearing the guys, in the game, and they can´t hear me?
Headspace Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Because the plugin isn't getting anything from DCS and thus isn't activating. There is apparently a connection issue between DCS and Teamspeak 3. Try running TS3 with administrator privileges and looking at your firewall software, if any. It's localhost to localhost, so the issue shouldn't be a major one.
Direwolf Posted August 11, 2011 Author Posted August 11, 2011 Hi Head Space We talked to each other thru ED forum this afternoon, and I'm still trying to understand what I'm doing wrong, that I can't connect TARS to DCS A-10C. Last thing you wrote, was about take a look at my firewall configuration, and I did that. TS3 is allowed to communicate thru the firewall, public and domestic network. You mentioned that TARS is a localhost to localhost application (whatever means this), and shoudn't be a major issue. Please, tell me what next possible steps I have to take, for having the plugin working fine. Again, thanx in advance. Ahhh..your bug report page is still broken.
Direwolf Posted August 11, 2011 Author Posted August 11, 2011 And I'm since day 1 running TS3 with administrator privileges.
Headspace Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Yes I am aware, I am fixing it but in the meantime feel free to attach logs to a PM to me here in the forums. Thanks. Also attach your dcs.log as well. It can be found in C:\Users\(yourname)\Saved Games\DCS Warthog\Logs.
Direwolf Posted August 11, 2011 Author Posted August 11, 2011 Hi Headspace Good to hear you're working on the system. Anyway, I reverted (reinstalled) to the previous status (TARS 1.0.0 Beta 11 AND TS 3 3.0.0. Beta 36), and tried again. Attached are the files required. Thx in advanceLog.rar
Direwolf Posted August 12, 2011 Author Posted August 12, 2011 Sorry Headspace, but your bug report page is still broken. I sent you an e-mail about that.
Direwolf Posted August 13, 2011 Author Posted August 13, 2011 Hi Headspace I'm still trying making some adjustments to my system, that allow me to use Tars. This morning, with a help of a friend, I tried to make it work, but it didn't happen. I'm sending the logs attached. And Soeey for not using your bug report page, but is still broken. Thx in advanceLog.rar
GreenD Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 (edited) Hi direwolf... First, sorry for my bad English.. I had the same problem like you, but fortunately I fix it. I try to explain the steps that I make. 1. Deactivate the plugin of Tars of TS 2. Uninstall TS 3. In windows go to start/execute 4.%appdata%/ 5. Delete ts3 folder. This erase all of your bookmarks, may be you can make a security copy first. 6. Reinstall TS3. be careful with the version 7. Activate with the TARS control panel the instalation in TS3. be sure that the TS3 is not running in this time. 8. Run TS3 and activate the plugin in options/pluggins 9. Play and enjoy :) All of this was the solution for me. I hope that it function for you Edited September 3, 2011 by GreenD
Ranger79 Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Last night used newest tars beta 10 and TS3 3.0.0. TS indicated Tars was running, freqs showed, when we keyed you could see the lights come on and off, but no sound in cockpit. Radios were on, freqs visible in TS3 (same freqs), volume knobs turned up in cockpit. We tried multiple times, but could not hear any sound. Any suggestions? Had the same issue last week, now again this week. Only solution to fix it has been to reinstall DCS each time this occurs. Today it was working fine in one mission, then flew another just after and no bueno. All radios set correctly, TARS showing on with correct radio freqs in TS, TS mic lighting up, but no comms.
Headspace Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 Guys. I have no problem with people swapping notes on how to fix TARS issues, obviously. But if you aren't submitting logs to the site (the log submission software was fixed back when the issue was reported, btw) then there's nothing I can do to help you. There is absolutely nothing I can fathom about the TARS/DCS integration that would require a full reinstallation of the software. Only by viewing the logfiles would I be able to assist you with this. Please submit your TARS logs when this stuff happens. There are two files that take about five minutes to zip up and send, they are documented in the TARS manual both in PDF format (when TARS installs) and online on the TARS website. In the past I have been very proactive as time has allowed in helping people with trouble, when they've submitted their logs. Thanks. 1
