aaron886 Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Please note what aircraft you have to be in to kill Eagles. :D
MoGas Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 nothing with 104-0 ratio......upps it was a training.... :)
GGTharos Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Only another Eagle. F-15J v F-15J accident with AIM-9M, Master Arm ARM instead of in SIM mode. F-15C v F-15C at Elmendorf, same deal. First aircraft was lost, second was landed and repaired. Turkeys are just turkeys ;) Please note what aircraft you have to be in to kill Eagles. :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
mikoyan Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 The tomcat performance is a bit of a mystery to me; there are videos of it doing a semi cobra and reaching crazy aoas; the fuselage could produce 40% of the lift. Some stories say that f-14 pilots would use the rudders and differential engine power to outturn eagles and falcons. The thing could accelerate super fast tanks to the variable wings; but it was delicate while landing due to intake shadowing caused by abrupt z axis maneuvers causing engine stalls. The early variants had delicate engines with compressor blades susceptible to failure at high g maneuvers and quick throttle movements. It could stall at high speeds causing unrecoverable spins. The D variant was the best; with better engines but by the time it was getting close to retirement the jet was g-restricted. Anyway it seems like the tomcat was a good airplane but not as user friendly as the f-15 or f-16. Now what I would like to know is if the f-15 wing rock wen stall or if it will just drop the nose.
GGTharos Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 It was a 6.5 airframe from the start. The D was a 9g airframe. It's only hope was to get its opponent to slow down.
