WolfK33 Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Hi everybody, after having been away from Lock On and PC-flying for quite some time I recently got FC2 and am all infected with the virus again. Unfortunately I have a pretty old computer (Athlon 2.4, HD 3450) so I have to turn down the settings a bit to make it enjoyable. And here is where the problems start. As I get the biggest FPS-drops near cities I want to set "Scenes" to medium or low, but I can´t. Well, I can do it in the options screen, but it has no effect. When I first tried it I had already messed with some files, for example to get the lower quality water, so I did a un- and reinstall of Lock On + FC2 + patch, but it´s still the same: I set "Scenes" to "low" in the options screen, but no matter if I start a campaign, or a quick start mission or just put a lonely aircraft for myself somewhere in the mission editor, I got all the buildings and all the trees. Even when making a mission in the editor and "enforcing" Scenes low in the editor additionally to having it set that way in the options screen it doesn´t work... I already spent two days reading through forums, but it seems nobody has that problem except me... Any ideas ? Greets, Wolf
159th_Viper Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Any ideas ? Welcome :) Here's what you do: Navigate to your installation folder and find the LockOn Flaming Cliffs 2/Bazar/Terrain/Scenes folder and double-click to open it. Inside you will see inter alia 3 files, namely: Low.scn Medium.scn High.scn Copy the Low.scn folder to your desktop and rename it to Medium. Paste again and you'll have another Low.scn on the desktop - rename that one to High. You have now a Medium.scn and High.scn files on the desktop - copy those two files and paste into your Snenes folder. You'll be prompted to overwrite - do so. You will now have Low scene files on all selects, irrespective of choice. Also be sure to make a backup of the scene folder prior to modding as stated above in case something goes wrong. WolfK33 Posted August 16, 2011 Author Posted August 16, 2011 (edited) Well, no joy... I did as you wrote, the folder now contains Low.scn, Medium.scn and High.scn all made from Low.scn, all 44.147 KB in size and an unaltered ETL.FSC. I put myself in a lonely A10 out of Batumi, and again I got it all, big appartement blocks, small houses, ships, boats, trees, everything... :helpsmilie: EDIT: After another complete reinstall now the different settings work. No idea what was wrong there. Although there are more buildings left in the "low" setting than I thought... Edited August 16, 2011 by WolfK33
