bavella1
Hi there! I have a problem to dial in and use radio presets and so now I want to ask for some advice. This is how I act: 1. Power up the VHF AM radio with the Freq-Mode-dial switch to TK 2. Test the radio via squelch button 3. check the Freq-selection-dial switch to MAN 4. Dial in the tower-freq (e.g. Beslan: 141.000) 5. Press the Load button (recognice the "click") 6. Set the Freq-Selection-dial switch to PRE 7. Use the Mic-switch for the VHF AM radio Now I don´t get any response from the ATC. If I switch the Freq-dial switch to MAN, the Tower is answering. Is there something I did wrong? Thanks in advance! bavella
bavella1
I've got an reply by PM, wich sounds helpfull. Thank you for this! Here is the message, wich may be helpfull for some others too. I didn't search in the right forum, sorry for this. cu, bavella PM: HF1 master dial has a bug if you turn the wrong way. Okay OFF -> TR TR <- OFF TR -> DF DF <- TR Bug!! DF -> OFF OFF <- DF -> Right-click <- Left-click If you left click from OFF (anti-clockwise to DF directly) it breaks presets and they don't work. You have to turn the radio off and start all over. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=75755&page=
WarriorX
Correct, that behavior is a bug and has been reported, and fixed. Which future patch the fix makes it into however is hard to tell. Guest Izoul123
I also was having many radio comm problems. I was using just the " \ " key for all comms on my old version before .9 which sent me into oblivion relearning things. That doesn't work for tuning anymore with the .9 version. After remapping HOTAS commands on the keyboard instead of the rshift+- combo/etc default keyboard combo, I'm back in business!!!!!! I should note that I'm using radio assist and easy comms in sim mode flight model as well. (still learning....I know...I'll turn this off one day) In short to anyone doing a search on this who does not have a true HOTAS stick/throttle quadrant: " \ " is NOT your comms friend initially. I've learned so much and realize how many TMS/DMS/CHINA/(insert coolie switch here) that I'm missing from my $35 logistick stick over this last week. I'm shocked I've been able to take things down, and after learning more and more...it's all becoming so clear how the systems are tied together. Almost HAVE to have the HOTAS setup for it IMHO. I've 'jerry rigged' my setup on my logi but it's not even close enough to the buttons/switches needed. This more and more proves to me that this sim is ultimately easier to use/even learn from scratch with the $450 tm wh hotas setup. I think that will be my xmas present to myself. If I'm still flying dcs in nov, I'm gonna order it. I'd dare go as far as saying it would be easier for the amateur flight simmer to start right off the bat almost with the tm wh. Is only my guess at this point. Gonna set $100 away each month until Nov and see if I'm still playing it. Fumbling over the keyboard is not the way to go. I don't use active pause either. Hope you got your radio comms squared away! PS: To those who DO own the TM WH setup, is it pretty much just plug and play, or do you need to manually set all of it up in sim? Also, this unit is all magnetic hall sensors with no need for pot recalibration ever correct? I purchased a TM long long ago for MS FX but I had to send the stick in every 6 months for new pots and calib/cleaning....wasn't worth the hassle. PSS: Hats off also to Fairchild-Republic and also Eagle Dymanics. If this is a close to true representation of how all the ac10 systems integrate together in the model c version, I'm highly impressed. The whole system is very forward thinking for pilot control/HOTAS/heads up awareness/control. My only real life flight experience in-cockpit is a few minutes of hands on flight in a cub, a cesna, and a whole round trip in the midwest of a learjet 60 (co pilot seat)...mostly as an observer in awe. I want my private license within the next 2 years and my tm wh hotas in 4 months. ;) For PC sims I've been with: Falcon 3, Falcon 4, the "Tornado" sim..can't remember exact name....came out about a year after F3, and had dynamic campaign as well highly focused on CCC, and of course, the MS flight/combat series. DCS is like a dream come true, I can't believe it doesn't have more public knowledge..... Now, if they'd just make a dynamic campaign aspect to this sim, or persistent online server campaign to connect to and fly with others in........ nomdeplume
PS: To those who DO own the TM WH setup, is it pretty much just plug and play, or do you need to manually set all of it up in sim? Yes it's just plug and play, the sim recognises the controllers and automatically configures everything. The only thing you may need to change is that the trim hat is, by default, used to control your view, and you need to hold RightCtrl (or something) when using it to actually control trim. If you have TrackIR or otherwise don't want to use a joystick hat to control your view, then you'll need to remove the modifier from the trim hat. Also, this unit is all magnetic hall sensors with no need for pot recalibration ever correct? Dunno, I used the calibration tool when I first got it to ensure it was properly calibrated, and haven't thought about it since. Then again, I don't recall ever recalibrating my X52, either. Charlie_01
True, but the only annoying thing is that on easy comms you often need to make the call twice: first time to activate the frequency and the second to send the message actually and receive the answer, especially when you call JTAC. And some more possible bugs are: 1) after patch 0.9 the 4th knob in both VHF AM/FM radios gives only "00" value, so it's no more possible setting frequencies like xxx.150 or xxx.025 and so on; 2) also UHF presets frequencies have an odd behavior as turning the knob gives random values of frequencies instead the presetted ones.
