I have access, through my grad school, to a 3d printer. I'm toying with the idea of 3d-printing a Black Shark collective grip, and attaching it to a simple collective using one of the many joystick I/O usb boards.as part of a simpit build. Challenge: finding good, dimensioned (or at least dimensions-recoverable-from) illustrations or photos of the Black Shark's collective. Anyone have anything handy? Google has not been kind to me thus-far today.

If I end up building this thing, I'll be glad to share the CAD files..

I like your idea. Isn't the collective grip primary a box with round corners? So, couldn't you possibly work you way up from this? (Btw from pure curiosity: is it a milling-kind printer or does it work by "glueing" [know what I mean]?)

There's no "Overkill". There's only "open fire!" and "time to reload".

Specs: i7-980@4,2Ghz, 12GB RAM, 2x GTX480, 1x 8800GTS, X-Fi HD, Cougar, Warthog, dcs-F16-pedals

Haggart,

The machine I have access to is made by Dimension. It's not a mill -- it builds up an object by laying down melted plastic out of a "print head." The cool thing about it is that the objects come out of the printer pretty much structurally solid! We also have a small 3-axis mill, but it's wood-only in the current setup, so not so exciting.

You're right that a project box would actually work almost as well -- I might just make version 0 out of interlocking laser-cut acrylic.

Thanks for the links!
