RzTen1 Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Hi. I've got a quick question on the damage modeling: I got a little too close to a SA-8 last night and wasn't able to spoof or dodge the missile in time. I ended up losing most of my right wing (everything past the flaps). This resulted in loss of hydraulic pressure in both the left and right systems. I switched to manual fight mode and ejected the remaining weapons. I was able to hold the aircraft level for a couple of seconds before it started to roll wildly and I was forced to eject. I've seen some pictures of people landing with roughly the same amount of wing damage, but how do you recover from the loss?
macedk Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Sounds like you were out of hydro fluids....means time to fly seat only :) OS: Win10 home 64bit*MB: Asus Strix Z270F/ CPU: Intel I7 7700k /Ram:32gb_ddr4 GFX: Nvidia Asus 1080 8Gb Mon: Asus vg2448qe 24" Disk: SSD Stick: TM Warthog #1400/Saitek pro pedals/TIR5/TM MFDs [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
MTFDarkEagle Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Agreed, especially if you've got half your wing blown off! Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
genbrien Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 It's doable with hydrolics, but without I think it's not. better eject in that case Do you think that getting 9 women pregnant will get you a baby in 1 month?[sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Mobo: Asus P8P67 deluxe Monitor: Lg 22'' 1920*1080 CPU: i7 2600k@ 4.8Ghz +Zalman CNPS9900 max Keyboard: Logitech G15 GPU:GTX 980 Strix Mouse: Sidewinder X8 PSU: Corsair TX750w Gaming Devices: Saytek X52, TrackIr5 RAM: Mushkin 2x4gb ddr3 9-9-9-24 @1600mhz Case: 690 SSD: Intel X25m 80gb

RzTen1 Posted September 18, 2011 Author Posted September 18, 2011 (edited) I kinda figured once the hydraulics were gone I was kinda screwed. :D I guess all the prior posted landings are no longer possible? It looks like the hydraulics system may have been changed in one of the patches, although I can't find this in the patch notes: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1133250&postcount=35 The hydraulics overview on http://www.dcswiki.com/index.php?title=Hydraulic_system_%28A-10%29 seems to suggest that damage deep enough in the wing will drain both systems.
