britgliderpilot Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 The problem is that the smoke is only a graphical effect. For jetwash, you're adding in turbulence in a very specific part of the game space, and you're doing it for every aircraft. I'd imagine it runs in roughly the same category as breaking up the water into distinct shapes - you have to break up the turbulence in pretty much the same way. Can't predict how much CPU power that'd use . . . . but it doesn't sound good. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
Pilotasso Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 I dont think I make myself cunderstand. How far do you want the jetwash to be felt? because it can be quite a significant distance, if you simply make it an amount of distance behind the plane, jetwash will move around the space like a giant fly swater. Remenber those old black and white movies with Buster Keaton carrying a ladder? Youll do the same thing with jetwash. Could look a bit awkward. Your wingman breaks formation and sudenly you loose control. Either we simulate it properly or be left ou IMHO. .
GGTharos Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 The it should be left out - otherwise it would require adding and deleting a 3d object or two constantly. It could be fairly CPU intensive plus then you'd have to program AI to be aware of it, yaddatayaddata [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
