I can't get through The Shore mission #4 without getting shot down by the SA-8's accompanying the tank convoys. I've tried the mission both at high altitude (15,000ft) and low (hugging the ground once I get over land) and those darn SA-8 always shoot me right in the face, even as I blow tons of chaff and jam them up the yin-yang.

I appear to be technically proficient (good at targeting and employing the various weapon types) but my tactics for dealing with different types of SAMs are pathetic.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

DCS Millenium Falcon, please. She's got the mother of all pits! P.S. My av should give you an idea of how long I've been simming.

I'm stubborn. I finally got thru it, the campaign, I mean. It doesn't end properly with a success note, it just says it's over. But there are so many variables. Sometimes there is no Russian CAP. That's great but your wingman will still drift too close to the SAMS and then, instead of just running away, he dumps his payload and hangs around the same area till he's little bitty pieces. Dumass! But, ya, you can win. Just keep your distance, call fighter support as soon as any bad guys light their burners and head your way. Too soon on the fighter support and they'll arrive and leave even with the Migs within range. And the next call seems to be for support from a lot greater distance. And speaking of distance? Reflying the mission takes forever. Even with 5 or 10x running. Make sure you are carrying 100% fuel even if it says you are overloaded. Conserve fuel and take shortcuts across planned routes. I believe one of the route markers may be a trigger for fighter support cause I tried a direct flight over the mountains and was shot down by CAP cause there was no fighter protection command. It all makes it real interesting tho.
