simis Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 I have a HP Touchsmart 310 PC, it runs lock on 1.02 perfectly fine. i get normally 40 to 50 fps. i know that version is outdated but im stuck with it. for some reason FC2 runs really choppy. any help would be appreciated.
HiJack Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 To get some answers you need to explain your configuration and patch level of FC2. You also need to post the spesifications of your computer. Are you on Windows XP?
EtherealN Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Unfortunately, there are many submodels to the 310, like always. But for the 310-1200 I see the following hardware: CPU: Athlon II x4 615e (2.5GHz) RAM: 4GB GPU: ATi Radeon 4270 <-- MASSIVE problem. Nothing new and graphically intensive is going to like that card. On the 310-1100 it looks pretty similar - different processor (x3 415e) and a Radeon 5450, which is also a problem. Better, but a problem. There are more versions though, and going through them all to guess isn't exactly the most efficient way to approach this problem. Instead, please pick up a DxDiag output file from your computer (directions here http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=44466 ) and we can see both hardware and drivers at the same time. But to be completely honest, I suspect two things to be the issue; the graphics card in that computer being the problem, and that it's a "soldered" card in those computers, meaning it is impossible to switch it. If that is the case, it might still be possible to help solve your situation, but it might require some semi-aggressive LUA hacks. simis Posted October 3, 2011 Author Posted October 3, 2011 HP 310 Touchsmart 310 PC. windows ver: windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit o/s, Processor: AMD Athlon II X4 610e Processor 2.40 GHz Memory: Installed Memory (RAM) 6.00 GB (5.75 GB usable) Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 4270 I currently have lockon 1.02 installed as well as FC2 ver. 1.2.1 I've attached my DXDIAGDxDiag.txt
104th_Crunch Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Try running Window Mode in the sim's option and set the it to the natural resolution of your screen.
simis Posted October 3, 2011 Author Posted October 3, 2011 yeah ive tried windowed mode, it slightly increases frames rates but nothing really playable
EtherealN Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 4270 This one should indeed be the likely problem. According to the schematics I checked that thing is even weaker than the Intel HD2000 sitting in the cheaper Sandys. Essentially, start off by lowering all graphics details as low as they'll go, and if the problem persists we'll have to seek other solutions - either LUA edits or looking closer at the drivers. simis Posted October 4, 2011 Author Posted October 4, 2011 yeah, this gfx card isnt anything really. everything is set on low in the game. i think seeking other solutions would be the best idea or i get a new pc soon haha.
EtherealN Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Well, we can try a few things at least. Get Notepad++ (not regular windows Notepad, ++ is freeware and better for code), then find: C:\XXXXXX\FC2\BlackShark\data\scripts\options.lua In here, find line 55 and change it from: ["water"] = 1, to ["water"] = 0, You might get something from doing the same to shadows and effects as well. Visual range to low is good, but you might be able to gain from creating a "new" option with even lower setting, or changing the low option to contain new settings. You can also try opening C:\XXXXXX\FC2\Config\graphics.cfg, then find line 90 and below, and change the numbers there - they generally govern how far away specific LOD levels will be called for models in the world (and indeed how far away they are to be visible at all), but I'm not 100% sure whether editing this in FC2 works. Never did it myself. There's also a class called LandLodDistances down at line 348 that you can try. Obviously, editing files like this is not technically supported and done at own risk, always keep a backup. Flogger23m Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Sadly it looks like your PC is too slow to run it very nicely. On the bright side, even I can not max the game out without stutters on Vista/Win7 64bit, AMD 965, GTX 260, and 8GB of DDR2 RAM. Certain areas in the map cause serve frame rate drops no matter what. Sadly the game (or engine) is just not optimized that well.
