I was having problems with Vikhr Guidance in a campaign mission, I tried engaging a target with vikhr but the missiles didnt guide they just slammed into the ground in front of me.

So then I think ok, I messed up my vikhr setup so lets send wingman in. But also his missiles do not guide and miss the target.

I saved the track, took control a couple of times but never got actual guiding vikhrs. Strange because I didnt have this problem before. I even took control right after the replay started. Couldn't get guiding vikhrs.

So then I just restarted the entire campaign mission. No guidance on the vikhrs.

I start a different mission and I have guidance on the Vikhrs.

So I don't know what is going on but on the mission 'Poke in the Eye' I cannot get guiding vikhrs.

There is a track of the mission I have attached where you can take control, start up your aircraft like you normally would and find that the vikhrs will not guide. Neither will those of your wingman.

Maybe I have gone crazy.

As far as I've been able to figure it's the wind (12m/s in mission 4, the one before that was even worse iirc).

It's really excessive, FARP won't even clear you for start-up.

(yes, corny. Sorry.)

Can confirm same here on the Operation Medvedev campaign. But only

there. Georgian Oil war and quick missions are ok for me.

And i think Arclight is right. In this new Campaign there is in nearly

every mission too much wind. In 2 missions even the ATC didnt gave

me startup clearance because of too much wind like Arclight says.

aha so that is it and that is also the no clearance thing yes, I was wondering about that too. Also because your wingman won't even do startup untill you are airborne.

Thanks, mystery solved.

I've encountered exactly the same problem with Vikhrs not guiding on the same mission. (Poke in the Eye) Also, the wingman keeps firing and missing when I assign him a target.

Strangely enough, I got my Vikhrs to work properly on the previous mission, the one with heavy rain and 18 m/s wind. Is there a possibility that the missiles work as long as you're firing more or less upwind/downwind? While heavy crosswind throws the missile seeker outside its "gimbal limit" (or whatever it's called)?

Copy and paste from another thread:

Ok - had a wee look:

Your wind-speed in that cyclone was according to your instruments 93km/h:

As a consequence, when you lined up for your Vihkr-launch, your entire aircraft was offset from the target by a large-enough margin to ensure that the Vikhr, when launched, will never be able to intercept the laser-cube/grid being projected. The sensors on the Vikhr tail accordingly picked up no energy after launch and the missile went stupid/ballistic.

As you can see from the pic, your nose is offset low and to the right of the intended target.

I took control immediately after the Vikhr near-impact to the building in your track, toggled auto-hover off and set the weapon control switch to manual due to the wind. Then lined up the nose of the Helo with the target and launched:

Note how the sensors on the nose of the copter align with the target. Impact:

Herewith also attached find your track. As said, I took control after your first launch, compensated as above and destroyed target.

That seems to be the only issue - hope that helps.
