May be I was not very clear in my scientific explanation but it means exactly the same that your impression :) I think your explanation was good, but maybe using incorrect terms besides it. To call it a placebo, or an impression, means that nothing was changed and people just 'feel' like something was. But if I read you correctly, there was an actual change, that had the effect that he is seeing.
