crazyeddie Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 A. Anyone discovered what distance or how close an enemy has to be from an airfield before you are unable to land at that airfield. (If I put a red object on, or even near, to an airfield a blue aircraft cannot land at that airfield ) Is there any way to switch that function off (apart from blowing the crap out of it first !!) ? B. What is the point of having a Neutral Countries function apart from removing them from the list of available countries where you cannot select anything to put in a mission, being neutral does not make you invisible or am I missing the point ?
Eddie Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 A. Anyone discovered what distance or how close an enemy has to be from an airfield before you are unable to land at that airfield. (If I put a red object on, or even near, to an airfield a blue aircraft cannot land at that airfield ) 2Km if no friendly forces are present. Also if the only friendly forces present are unarmed units any armed unit will capture the airfield instantly without having to destroy the friendlies. Is there any way to switch that function off (apart from blowing the crap out of it first !!) ? No. B. What is the point of having a Neutral Countries function apart from removing them from the list of available countries where you cannot select anything to put in a mission, being neutral does not make you invisible or am I missing the point ? At the moment it only removes the selected countries from the list of available options in the ME and from singleplayer mission briefings.
crazyeddie Posted November 9, 2011 Author Posted November 9, 2011 Cheers Eddie, will have to think of another way to overcome that, many thanks for your prompt reply.
Speed Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 On the subject of neutral countries, I believe that by setting a unit to "invisible" and making them some "neutral" object (like one of the civilian airliners present in the game) will effectively make them neutrals. Sure, they might belong to a coalition, but what the "invisible" setting does to a unit is make it invisible to AI, not humans. So the unit will effectively be treated like a neutral- no one will engage it. Someone correct me if I am wrong, I haven't fully tested the above idea, but it should work just fine if all my assumptions are correct. Intelligent discourse can only begin with the honest admission of your own fallibility. nomdeplume Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Speed is 100% correct. In addition even if the unit is armed, if you set its ROE to 'hold fire' or 'return fire' it won't initiate hostilities with anyone. If it's also invisible to AI, nobody else will initiate hostilities against it. It will therefore behave like a neutral unit.
