Can someone tell me how to create a mission where a cycling pair of choppers/planes move to attack as soon as I destroy a target? That is once a condition is met.

I will explain my idea. I have 2 Su-25 flying a "loop-end loop" pair of waypoints, I should move into a position and as soon as I destroy the SAM/AAA guarding that position, the Su-25 should leave their loop and attack a target there.

Is that possible? Think it can be a very nice addition, and can be useful for assault missions as well where assault choppers don't try to assault a target until you killed enemy threats in the area.

BTW How can I make a Su-25 drop a illuminating flare during a night mission? And another BS mark a target with smoke rockets?

Set up their flightplan. In the advanced waypoint actions of the waypoint where you want it to hold. set an orbit task. Then go into the triggered action menu and add "Switch Waypoint" and type in the waypoint number you want them to go to next. Then create a trigger in the main trigger menu, Once--Unit Dead--AI task--?switch waypoint.

You should set their task to AFAC and then tell them to attack the area you want to drop the flares.[

Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing

Interesting, need to try as I never used "triggers" before. Should I use this literaly?

Once--Unit Dead--AI task--?switch waypoint

BTW is there any way to see the real terrain on mission editor? I can't properly place parked helicopters as I can't see the taxi and parking lines on mission editor. Any help?

There is a trick in the Hot Tips section about using multiplay running alongside single play. I've never used it though. You just have to place an object as best you can...go into mission to see where it is and then go back to editor and move it. A bit time consuming but it can get done.

Another way I do it is while in the mission itself...I note the long and latitude and then place my unit in the editor that way. It is still trial and error I'm afraid.

Thanks for the tips! I'm having another problem too. I want to start from Beslan aircraft in a night mission. But when I open the radio, the ground crew is not there, so I can't request the NVG. How can I add the googles or the crew so I can request the installation of the googles?

You mean the fround crew don't respond? Check there is a friendly vehicle there which will make the airbase friendly. Starting a night mission though the goggles should be the default.

AAAh thats it!! Just discovered that I need illumination in order to use the Vikhr, so I need to carry the flare rockets with me on night missions right? A bit dangerous as those rockets don't last too long and are hard to use I think. A pity we can't use the Vikhr with NVG only.

You can but you don't get a lock. You have to hold the skhval on the target manually. And yeah those illum rockets are pigs to use. I've never got the hang. It's easier for the AI to do it with bombs.

Yes you can...depending on the target. If you for example shot at something hiding in a city...there is enough illumination from city lights to allow you to see target through the schval. You cannot lock a target but all you need to do is just keep schval target box over the target and the Vikr will ride the laser beam to the target. Night fighting means manual tracking with schval.

And how can I launch a Vikhr without locking?

You set the auto weapon control switch to manual and thus you can launch a Vikr beyond normal launch parameters. It is two buttons down from the master arm switch on the weapons control panel.

You just hold the tracking gate over the tgt. If you look through the shkval screen with the goggles you get a bit of night vision capability (well you did in BS1).

EDIT: Sniped, the little ....... :D

You actually get more in BS2 now...I think it is due to the nice lighting characteristics of the cities. You can actually see things now with NVG and Schwal. Haven't tried any targeting though out in the country where it is much more dark.:joystick:

Goddamit Stratos! Its a nice idea. I dont know how, but my take is that fixed wing froggie (apologies to the frenchmen on this very community) should pave the way to the strike package and not the other way around.

On a second note, one of the missions I flew during the deployment campaign involved clearing a village of SAM/MANPADs for a two-ship Mi-24 raining hell on some unarmed targets. It was the only logical step for adopting the shark into this type of task given the fact that the TP was mountainous, and a froggie would definitely crash and not pull extreme maneuvers in those valleys like the shark would. If your mission is on flat terrain, have a two-ship froggies take out air defences, and let the Mi-24 move in for the kill. You could provide escort and direct SATCOM feed to a SKP-11 MCP using Abris (a real life tactic if that's what you're after).

Still I like your idea.
