Username455 Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 Hello everyone, My current system is in my sig, and since Christmas is coming up, Ive been thinking about adding a few goodies obviously any video card would be an upgrade, but I was looking at the 560ti because it is a quality card but still relatively affordable. However, should I look at the 400 series for a possibly cheaper solution? I just dont like buying older models that will need to be upgraded again sooner than later. Also, would the price increase be worth it for a 570 perhaps? I dont think I want to spend 580 money. (actually im sure of it) my motherboard is the asus p6t deluxe v2, which does not have sata 6gb/s, but I was interested in a SSD. They would probably be cheaper for the older SSD models, but would this upgrade be worth it? I would probably only have win7 and DCS on it. Finally, I was looking at adding more ram for fun. I have 6gigs currently, but though if it was cheap enough I could get 6 more. First question is, does all the ram need to be the same? The current ram I have in my PC is discontinued. its OCZ 1600 ram with timings of 7-7-7-24. Second question, if anyone is familiar with my motherboard and how it overclocks, my ram is currently running at 1440 or around there. If I were to get cheaper 1333 ram, would there be an issue trying to run it higher? Ive never OC'd ram before. I like my CPU overclock where it is and wouldnt want to scale back for my RAM. Thanks for any input!:joystick: System: i7 920 @3.8ghz; GTX 560ti 448; 6gb DDR3 1600 ram; 750gb HDD; 750w PSU; Win7 64bit; x52 Pro; TrackIR 5
agrasyuk Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 I just migrated the game folder from mechanical drive to SSD. load times became much nicer. recommended, but not crucial. as far as video card i always get the best one i can afford (without getting into obscene >300$ monsters however) - lasts longer, so i would get the 570 over 560ti. just my 0.02 good luck Anton. Username455 Posted November 15, 2011 Author Posted November 15, 2011 thank you very much! The 570 is quite tempting hehe. I heard that crucial was one of the better brands for SSD? which brand do you recommend? I am a noob with SSD so I will need to research quite a bit, but Im just curious. agrasyuk Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 i went with intel 510 series drive, at a time current offering. i read it is slower AND more expensive then other brands , but has lesser failure rate which IMHO is more important then speed. this is not a recommendation , please do look into the subject as well and make sure you like your drive of choice, Anton. 104th_Cobra Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Hello Username Look here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1314771#post1314771 Your 1600MHz RAM amount and frequency is good enough. Don't look back and buy a GTX 570. I'm not not sure wich brand, perhaps an ASUS or EVGA. I also have a 2008 P6T Deluxe and so far is easily overclocked. Until the end of the year I'll change the graphic card to an 570 or a 580, hoping that my rig will stand for more 1-2 years. Perhaps I'll go with the cheaper one because I'm planning to buy a flightstick and pedals and all together will be a significant amount :). 104th Cobra [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
