Hi Guys,

OK here goes. I need some help please on a couple of problems within the game.

1. To take a screen shot the command key is the Print Scrn/SysRq key why when I use that I don't get a shot ? I have check the key commands in the options and it's keyed in.

2. As a rookie I have enabled the immortal box to keep flying if something goes wrong IE shot down, engine failure etc yet I am still getting engine failures and ending up in a pile of junk on the ground

Answers if any will be greatly appreciated. Timm

1.

Have you looked here ? C:\Users\<user name>\Saved Games\DCS BlackShark 2\ScreenShots

2.

Immortality does exactly what it says - you are immortal - nothing more and nothing less.

So you can still in the figurative sense break your neck but you will not die of it...

Means the systems can break down because of simple operating failure - but the hull will be unbreakable.

Hi PeterP,

Thanks for response. OK the screen shot question is now sorted, just made a short cut of that file into my docs. Here is a screen shot of a texture I did for BS1 and works great in BS2 via MODMAN. However on the Immortality question yes that what should happen but I have just been over to the range and and had some sort of engine failure the aircraft went into an uncontrollable spin and ended up in a pile of scarp metal.

Was it a mission with a script failure event? - In this case the immortality will be not working.

If this is the case you can only counter react by doing the appropriate procedures e.g. shutting the faild engine down to prevent a explosion.

you have an immortality switch and an invulnerability switch. the former protects your craft from ever receiving damage. the latter makes it so deaths do not get recorded to the pilot's log.

Hi,

I modified the Ka-50 Shooting Range.miz to take my texture that is all.

231 is right, please check if you didn't mixed this up like I did in my answer as I also talked of immortality instead invulnerability.

You lost me there 231?. OK Here is a shot of the main option screen and a shot when I tried a force landing, undercarriage snapped, rotor blades knackered. Timm

The pilot immortality is set on the pilot log screen, not in the options.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

the former protects your craft

If that's the case why then is my aircraft sustaining damage ?

I'll have to look into that. I know in FC2 the immortality switch was broken for AFM aircraft. I don't know if that is an engine limitation (though in that case I suppose the switch shouldn't be there).

I'll check it out.

From the BS 2 GUI Manual:

The STATUS of the pilot is indicated in the lower left portion of the pilot page.

  • Invulnerable. This can either be set to YES or NO and determines if the pilot can be killed in action.

  • Immortal. Enabling immortality will make it impossible to damage or destroy your aircraft.

Hence, I'd assume a bug - either a documentation bug or a software bug ;)

Hi Luigi,

I think we have a bug here. I'm finding extremely hard in controlling the shark at the best of times and to end up in a pile of scrape is not good. Timm
