lazduc Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 I connected my TM warthog controller, works, but when I start A10C program the controller which I thought would hook up automatically and have all the functions automatically enabled, does not seem to work. What do I do to get this to function correctly?? It is recognized but the functions are not correct and the axis are all mixed up. Thanks for your help. Lazduc :helpsmilie:
cichlidfan Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 The first thing I would try it to delete/move/rename (your choice), the DCS Warthog saved games folder. It sounds like a config file corruption. Try it again, the contents of the folder will be recreated and it should work as expected, especially the axis'. The warthog is indeed, Plug-n-Play with a few minor changes being desirable. Note, the trim hat is configured for looking around, if you use TIR you will need to change that. lazduc Posted December 3, 2011 Author Posted December 3, 2011 help with tm warthog controller Tried your suggestion but nada. It still returns with the axis all wrong. Yes for a plug and play this is not going well...I might add I tried a saitek controller before I hooked up the TM unit..I am thinking of reinstalling a10c and have a question..does removing and reinstalling this game do something to the license like use up an installation unit and I only get two or something simular or do I turn off something first and then do this??? Is there a procedure or can I just uninstall it and reinstall it? I am also using CH pedals which seem to configure itself as a joystick slider which is on the throttle ....and the throttle endes up like the rudder and then the rudder is like the throttle...trying to correct this in the settings is getting beyond me...as I tried this 10 time. :helpsmilie::helpsmilie::helpsmilie: Any other suggestions...and please let me know about the reinstall procedure. Lazduc
MTFDarkEagle Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Try this: In the controls section, select *a* catagory (either WH stick or throttle) by clicking once in a box in that catagory, and click "Load profile" at the top. Browse to: *installdir*/Config/Input/Aircrafts/A-10C/joystick and double click the relevant lua file. Do the same for the stick or throttle (whichever you haven't done earlier). lazduc Posted December 3, 2011 Author Posted December 3, 2011 Ok I will try your suggestion..do you know about the reinstallatiion procedure I mentioned?? And also, isnt this TM unit suppose to link automaatically to the program without any intervention??? So what gives? I really wanted that so I would not have to fool around with the profiles configuration. Thanks for the reply. Lazduc
lazduc Posted December 3, 2011 Author Posted December 3, 2011 In the controls portion when I click on the catagory nothing happens so I cannot load a profile. Which do I select....?????? the simulation or the game? In the game mode the selection/catagory works but after loading a profile...example for my foot pedals it loads but the axis are all wrong. lazduc Posted December 3, 2011 Author Posted December 3, 2011 I ask again for instruction on reinstalling the game. Are there only like 3 or whatever times you can reinstall without some kind of problem?? Lazduc
MTFDarkEagle Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 You can reinstall infinite times. Right: Just make sure the catagory is selected (i.e. lift click any command in the colomn), and on the top there is a button "Load Profile". lazduc Posted December 4, 2011 Author Posted December 4, 2011 Thanks for the replys. I am reinstalling it now. Wish I knew what the problem was...guess I am about to find out...again thanks for the info. Lazduc
lazduc Posted December 4, 2011 Author Posted December 4, 2011 I reinstalled and same problems...and it crashes now sometimes. I have found that there is never any link estlabished between the game and controller...none of the buttons work in the game...some of the axis are working but my rudder pedals do not and I cannot get them to work correctly. When they do they control the wrong input. Under the game controllers under windows I see all the controllers and everything operates correctly but in the game nada....and again I thought this TM Warthog controller was a plug and play device...no..its not in this case. My specs are I7 2600k, Asus P8 Z68 Deluxe, 1200w power, 8gb, 2 1tb wd drives, 60gb ssd, 2 nvidia 580's in sli, Tm warthog, 3 19in panels running through triple headto go, tracker 5, two powered usb hubs one for the TM all by itself, the other for the Triple headtogo, blueray, dvdhd, etc. I am disappointed with this program A-10c and this TM warthog controller. I have the 1.1.0 version. I have a G 940 logitech that I might be forced to use...Shouldnt this controller link up automatically?????????? Is there something I have missed...something I have to enable first so the program sees the TM controller???? Thanks for any help. Lazduc
FieroCDSP Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 okay... I can see why you are frustrated, but I think a few deep breaths and a simpler, systematic approach might help some. isolate the hardware and software sides of things and eliminate possible issues one at a time. 1:obvious question- do you have the recent drivers from TM? You should also have the Target GUI and Script Editor softwares that download with it. In the Target GUI software is a quick button for updating the controller's firmware. You should make sure the firmware and drivers are up to date (sorry to sound like tech non-support). 2: Do all of the axis perform correctly in your windows game-controllers panels? Is there any delay or sluggishness, or odd switch behaviors. 3:If the controller performs fine in the game-controller screen, open the Target GUI software and make sure there's no profile running that might be screwing things up. not likely, but best to check. 4: try hooking the TM controllers directly to the comp's USB ports. I ran into an issue with the throttle not reading when hooked into my front-panel ports because (for whatever reason) the power available there was not enough to run it. Connecting to the back panel ports fixed it. Maybe there's an issue with your hub or just the sheer amount of stuff there. If you find the controller working just fine outside of the software environment, you know for certain it's something with A10, not the controller or interface. 5:In A-10, go to "options, controls tab" and look at what you have there. You should see columns for each TM unit, plus your mouse, keyboard, and pedals. Here's the "gotcha" part. Whenever you connect a new USB controller, it sometimes assigns a full range of axis and buttons for each one. You can clear the columns and fix each switch manually if need be, though. Verify your axis in the axis screen and clear any possible conflictions between them (i.e. make sure that rotaries don't overlap and that rudder axis are only assigned to rudder controls.) work with each control individually until it works. use the runway start and check the controls before you leave the ground. 6:About the only other thing I can think of is that maybe your control settings are being done in "sim" mode settings tab and your game setting is for arcade. Both have different profiles so it's possible that when you're getting in game, you're using a different profile than the one you set up. If you already covered all of this on your own then I'm out of ideas. My own TM hooked up just fine, which was a pleasant surprise. USB is convenient, but it is not perfect. Conflicts can occur and sometimes you just need to rethink the plumbing. Plugging one thing in at a time and working up is often the easiest method of trouble shooting. Above all else, patience and a method are the keys to fixing problems like this.
lazduc Posted December 4, 2011 Author Posted December 4, 2011 Posted on the other thread and finally got it...thanks to all. Lazduc
