REL Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Hey Did anyone manage to execute this procedure successfully? Especially procedure number 4? Landing Gear Extension Failure Ideally, you always want to land with all three landing gears extended and locked with three green gear-down indicators on the landing gear panel. If moving the landing gear handle to the down position does not result in three down and locked lights, you should try the following: 1. Press the Signal Lights button to make sure the lights are operating. 2. Check that there is pressure in the left hydraulic system. If pressure looks good… 3. Cycle the landing gear handle back up and then down again. 4. Increase airspeed to 200 KIAS and pitch and roll the aircraft to shake loose the gear. 5. If all this fails, use the Landing Gear Alternative Extension Handle. To use this handle: a. Reduce airspeed below 200 KIAS b. Ensure landing gear handle is down c. Pull AUX LG EXT handle along the lower left side of the center dash
Inseckt Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Tried it couple of times, but to no avail. It broke on TO, and didn't retract, I could land safely though, so it must have been in the locked position anyway, but I was missing a green.... ralfidude Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 What about if gear fails to come up?? Iv had this problem about twice before. One of the gears, would not come up and the other 2 would. I "fixed" this problem by flying over a building and just tearing off the gear, but is there a way to fix it without landing? Spectre_USA Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 I never had a gear extension fail until last week flying a campaign mission in 1.1.1.1. I tried the item highlighted in Red, above, just on a lark, after doing a couple of go-arounds. Didn't think to check the manual for the other steps, as I was running late for work in the real world, and could not have done so had I thought of it. Needless to say, it did not work, and I shirked off landing 101 in my current persona's logbook. I hope it doesn't happen again, but if it does, I will look for that handle, as the 200+ and win-wagging didn't do a blessed thing, and I caught no damage, it just decided to fail on the right main, for some reason... As to emergency gear extention I've tried it and it worked in past versions, haven't tried it in 1.1.1.1, I'll try it out this afternoon and see. v303d Fighter Group Discord | Virtual 303d Fighter Group Website
