MTFDarkEagle Posted December 24, 2011 Posted December 24, 2011 J, Sad to hear it's broken. I think it's best you contact Thrustmaster directly. I don't think you can get replacement parts outside of TM. Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread

JaseGill Posted December 27, 2011 Author Posted December 27, 2011 Good news all round. TM have emailed me back, very quickly to say that I can order a replacement Pinky Switch, to be replaced by me rather than send it off. All I need do is send my details and Serial Number. Very good support I thought. J. JaseGill Posted January 16, 2012 Author Posted January 16, 2012 Hi, Well its arrived today, 4 days after I managed to find my original receipt that was required as proof of purchase. very fast service I'd say and totally free (all I have to do is solder the wiring for it which is an easy job with a soldering iron and some cheap shrink wrap. In case anyone is wondering which switch manufacturer is used by Thrustmaster (I know some cockpit builders probably are) the pinky is this one: http://www.mhaoswitch.com/mhaoswitch.com/english/MS-102-F1.htm Rgds, J. effte Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012  Having owned pretty much every TM product from the PFCS and on, this is one of the reasons which make me stick with TM! A brief stint as a Saitek owner and never-ending problems and I was back. I still own various Saitek gear as well, mainly for civvie flying, but the TM stuff is what gives me the best value for the (substantial amount of) money. I was worried when Gullie.. Guillie... Guillemon.... that French company took over, but TM were allowed to keep up the high degree of customer support their price tags frankly call for. Writing this as a customer testimony, and to let the TM reps who are surely frequenting these forums know that it is worth the cost to keep it up. ;) ----- Introduction to UTM/MGRS - Trying to get your head around what trim is, how it works and how to use it? - DCS helos vs the real world.
FieroCDSP Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Having tried to get the pigtail wiring diagram for an X45 out of Saitek's tech-support (and failing miserably at it) I can appreciate TM doing this for a customer. Were I a manufacturer, I'd insist my tech guys provide a similar, self-applied, approach if the customer is capable and willing. No sense shipping a large, heavy box when you can mail a few $.50 switches in a $2.00 mailer. In this day and age of replaceable merchandise, I'll stick with a manufacturer that does more than just ship the product. BTW, my favorite places to get parts are Mouser.com (if you know exactly what you are looking for and can find it on their site) and MPJA.com (discount place. Plenty of regular switches, cheap but workable quality).
