Hi all.

When i´m starting up my A-10c, i cant move the EAC switch to ARM. It flip back to the OFF position everytime. In the training lesson it works but in the mission it doesn´t. I looked the Start up verry carefully and tried it in the same way as in the training lesson but it didn´t work.

The EGI has to be fully aligned before the EAC switch will stay armed.

Edit: that is, line 8 of the NAV ALIGN sub page on the CDU reads "T = 4.0.0.8".

See the flight manual, top of page 222. (Sorry, not home now so unable on the screen shot, but the manual has a nice picture of it as referenced.)

Edit: I should also add that, once the EGI is aligned, you need to select NAV from that same page and select EGI in the NMSP (below the HSI) before the EAC will stay armed.

Ensure EGI is in Nav mode. (Nav on CDU)

Alignment is complete.

All 4 SAS chanels are enabled.

In the key options menu, I map the EAC on to key "5", and EAC off to key "6", you can map it to your Warthog or other HOTAS if you wish. It can spring back to off sometimes if I click it with the mouse?

Cheers.:)

This. Once the CDU has finished booting up it'll start aligning. It starts with a counter at T = 0 that should count up to T = 4.0. While it's aligning another number pops up next to it which counts down. This is the accuracy of the current alignment and is supposed to reach 0.8. If it's set to NAV mode before it's set to T = 4.0 0.8 it'll be degraded and you won't have full support. When it is done you will see RDY flashing at the top. Also note that moving while it is aligning will degrade it.

I have to roll forwards to select EGI (just getting mixed up for a moment earlier) I find. It's like it can't be done before moving. And yes I do have flashing INS Nav ready. Any ideas.

Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing

Are you putting the EGI into Nav mode after the alignment is complete? This has to be done prior to selecting EGI on the NMSP or enabling EAC.

Moving the aircraft will result in the EGI automatically switching to NAV mode, regardless of current alignment state, so that suggests to me you are not doing the above.
