  1. Motoring was listed as part of the standard start up procedure in at least a couple of the checklists circulated through this forum, one of which was a favorite of mine because of the level of detail it included. However, that part and a few others proved inconsistent with real world procedure, so I don't use it anymore. As Shagrat points out, the normal procedure does NOT use motoring. The TO 1A-10C-1 (Change 10, 12 APRIL 2012) calls for motoring only when pre-start ITT is greater than 150 C or if there is potential for a hot start (fuel in the engine).
  2. Nice series - thanks for the effort. I used Tacview some time ago with BS / BS2 but kind of forgot about it - looks like it has improved a lot, particularly the DCS integration. Will have to give it another look.
  3. Good answers here but just wanted to add that one way to find what grid you are actually flying in at any given time is to consult the POS page on the CDU (SYS / INS / POS).
  4. Awesome Keats - thanks for the extra effort. Will definitely give it a try. Wonder if Warrior will lase the target now?
  5. I'm no expert and PhoenixBvo already referred you to the battle book from the 476th which is awesome, but for me using CCIP and dive bombing ( as opposed to toss bombing ) is the way to go with the 82's. Experiment with the HOF setting for CBU's, and set your SPI to a location upwind of your intended target. As with a lot of things in the A-10C it's not all about switchology - practice and experience count for a lot.
  6. Flew the first mission over the weekend, and had good fun. Got killed, but still had fun  The synthesized speech does work, and all of the voice acting was quite good, I thought. About the only area that didn't feel quite right was not having to tune in to receive the comms from Badger. I like the realistic radio modeling in DCS, and it seemed weird to have these people just talking to me from time to time regardless of whether I was tuned to ATC, a package frequency maybe even talking to my wingmen at the time. Your use of the F10 menu option is interesting, though, and admittedly made it convenient to look back at the last message. A trade off, I guess. Anyway, thanks a lot for building this campaign - even one decent mission is a lot of work, I know, so your effort here to produce and publish a campaign is quite remarkable. Thanks again.
  7. China Hat aft short (missle step) may work, but that also selects the next missile and should not be necessary. I just slew the crosshairs off the target and to the next one. Are you saying that does not work for you? If so, you might try TMS down short, which ground stabilizes the MAV seeker.
  8. Whether you must enter leading or trailing zeros depends on whether you are using L/L or MGRS. with the former, you need to enter the leading zero for the longitude degree field, but it is always advisable to enter zeros where they belong to avoid misinterpretation by the CDU. For MGRS you have options but have to be careful to keep the northings and eastings the same number of digits or you'll end up with a point way off where you intend.
  9. Yep - been flying BS and the A-10 for years now and loving it, but can't wait to strap on a DCS- quality F/A-18...
  10. There are many old posts on this with lots of pictures of RW jets, including A-10's, just a bit off the runway but hopelessly broken or at least stuck as a result. Conclusion was that it's realistic. In the RW, chances are that if you drove off the runway your mission would be scrubbed anyway, even if you didn't get stuck or damaged, while the plane is towed back for ground crew to check it out.
  11. For fighter jets that usually means how fast you can move, or increase the "rate", the nose across the sky. Refers to turn rate, but in three dimensions. The faster the pilot can rate his nose toward the target the faster he can get his sensors and weapons on his enemy.
  12. Ah - I see. Thanks for the info, I had not picked up on the possible release of the map tools before.
  13. That would be nice, but I doubt that a new theater will be included with the FA-18C module. A lot of development went into the Caucasus AO in DCS World and the only other area that I have heard of being worked on is Nevada.
  14. Yep, that's been their practice. I purchased the A-10C as soon as the beta became available and found it was worth every penny. Now i have my credit card ready and just waiting for the announcement of the FA-18C beta...
  15. You can turn it on, using the switches on the Auxiliary Avionics Panel, as soon as you have the APU Generator on line. Probably ground power would work as well, but I have not tried this personally since DCS World. Alignment will proceed while you go through the rest of your preflight checks.
  16. Great thread here and thanks to all who have contributed. Looking forward to the mod - as one poster pointed out flying is a huge part of this and a part I enjoy as much as the combat. Having the means to follow real world procedures makes it all just that much more real, at least for me. Keep up the good work!
  17. I'm not aware of anything in the ME that would affect this, but a few of us had problems with snap views recently, as addressed in this thread.
  18. Flew SP as SPRINGFIELD today and had great fun. Don't have time to go into detail right now but wanted to say I really like the voice acting and it really help increase the immersion factor. Everything worked as advertised, and I made it back to Kutasi in one piece, despite a close encounter with one of the SA-9's. The only glitch I experienced was the same one I have with all JTAC interaction since installing DCS World 1.2.3: I get the 9-line saying the target (tanks) is marked with Willie Pete, and a couple seconds later JTAC (call sign EYEBALL in this case) calls "No mark". Haven't seen a thing from ED on this issue despite several threads about it - sure hope they get it sorted.
  19. It happens too fast to be explained by dissipating - would be cool if it did, though. Just flew Bahger's new Patrol by Force mission (had a blast - highly recommed it) and the 9-line says the target (tanks in this case) will be marked by WP. About 2 seconds later JTAC calls "No mark."
  20. I know, and I didn't mean to commit thread necromancy just for myself. Just thought you might want to know, and if someone new to the sim downloads the mission. I replay Midnight Run often after having to take the inevitable break when work, life, etc. gets in the way - I have to admit I just love the mission, and find it a great way to refamiliarize myself with the jet. Love your later stuff, too. Flying Partol by Force now and having a blast!
  21. Just in case somebody finds this thread hoping for an answer, Richrd G posted a fix in a similar thread in the main A-10 forum and on SimHQ: you just need to exit the game and delete the keyboard.lua file from your user profile. The next time you start the sim a new default one is created. edit as you like. I don't know if or how mine became corrupted, but once I did the above I had the sticky snap views back and the Universe was set right again.
  22. Heck no! Every time somebody new signs on and starts asking questions I learn (or maybe relearn) things I thought I knew. Congrats on getting a great rig to work with - will make the learning faster and definitely immerse you in the sim.
  23. fjacobsen, did this work for you? As i posted on the mission thread, I've tried Midnight Run four times now under DCS World 1.2.3 and unfortunately it looks like something in this version keeps Warrior (the JTAC) from using a laser to designate the command bunker (the primary target). Everything he says is like before, except he says "no mark" and there a Laser Spot Search yields nothing. I tried a couple of times as is, thinking I might be doing something wrong, and then I loaded it up in the ME to try a few things. Warrior Is set to mark "Auto", so I changed that to "Laser" hoping that would do the trick, but no joy. I can still take out the bunker by picking it out of the gloom with the TGP, but I like the concept of searching for the JTAC laser. Any thoughts on what might have changed or how I might be able to edit the mission to get it to work as before will be appreciated!

Bahger, I know you put a lot of time into these missions and continue producing more , but is there any chance you could load it up in the ME and see if you spot anything amiss?
  25. Awesome - another Bahger mission, and just in time for a weekend during which I might actually have time to fly! Thanks for continuing to build and share these missions - we probably do not say it often enough, but your imagination, knowledge and hard work are great appreciated.
