Hi, I have the boxed English version of Black Shark 1 installed and patched to 1.02. Last night I downloaded the four files contained in BS2 upgrade (English).

Will this latest installer work over 1.02 or do I need to uninstall everything and start over?

Also, what files do I need to save in order to avoid redoing all the controller inputs?

Thanks, I looked through all the forum threads on installing BS2 but there is alot of conflicting info and the official upgrade page has no information.

When you run your BS2 upgrade, BS2 will be installed parallel to BS1.

The BS2 upgrade installer will simply look for a valid BS1 install, and will then make a standalone BS2 installation.

You'll have to redo the controls, as they are noy compatible between the two versions.

Thank you Bengo,

Do you know if 1.02 is considered by BS2 to be a valid BS1 install? Or is it looking for a clean version 1 straight off the CD.

In other words, what has the new installer fixed?

Nope, 1.02 should be fine. There was an issue with that at first, but the installer got an update and the problem was fixed.

Ok, everything installed fine, flew a quick mission and all is good!

One more question- Now that BS2 is up and running can I uninstall BS1? (Need the space because of small SSD).

Thanks for all your help, can't find this information anywhere else, you are a life saver.

Hi,

So, once we've done the Upgrade to Black Shark 2 (downloadable version), and entered the new Serial Number, .. and Activated, .. can one safely assume that we'll never need the original Black Shark files again?

I'd hate to do a Full re-install sometime in the future, only to find that the installer is looking for Black Shark 1. :helpsmilie:

Thanks

Cheers

Same as FC2 always requires original LO to be installed prior, if you bought BS2 Upgrade version you will always need to have original BS installed before you can instal or re-instal BS2

Logically, this doesn't make any sense, and, if this is the case, then the folk at ED need to do something to sort it out.

I'm not keeping 7 Gb of unused disk space, just for Black Shark 1 to reside, just in case I need to re-install Black Shark 2. :(

I'm pretty sure that now that I have received a new serial number for BS 2, and activated it, that ED now consider my install, a Full & Complete version of BS 2.

Which, hopefully means, I can re-install at any time. Alternatively, I can download the "Full" (i.e. non-upgrade) version, and re-install with that, using my new serial number.

Can someone from ED please clarify this issue?

Thanks

It's not how it works and that's what it says when you download it. Put BS1 on a disk or something and if you need it install it.

If this were the case all people would do is buy the cheap version whether or not they already had BS1.

Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing

IF ED would be some kind as to tell us what files (if any) are needed to be

left behind, we could just delete the rest and leave a couple behind.

As long as you dont use the un-installer the reg keys will be left behind

Actually, it may just be the Registry entries for BS 1, that need to remain intact, as I'm sure that's what the Upgrade Installer probably looks at before it installs.

If that's the case, then one could delete the BS 1 folder etc..

However, if you need to re-build your system, for whatever reason, then that could pose a problem, as you would lose the Registry entries.

I'll say it again, ... a representive of Eagle Dynamics needs to clarify this issue.

Right now, all we have is speculation.

Well, I'm going to do a new build next week. If I deactivate everything first (i.e. BS1, BS2 & WH) I should be good to reinstall on the new machine, shouldn't I?
