Rainmaker Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Okay, I have searched around and played with my graphics settings but I can't figure out exactly where this is coming from. Maybe someone here can help. I am assuming this is not normal. I know it may be hard to tell, but I have areas on the canopy that have distortions on them. Makes it really difficult to use NVG's. It almost looks as if it's areas where the canopy is normally shaded to add depth to it. Graphical specs: ATI 5870 1GB Running at 4600x900 on three monitors Latest drivers This has bothered me for some time, but just geting around to trying to find a fix.
PeterP Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 (edited) This is not the problem of DCS per se. It's seems for me that the gamma or contrast of your output is too high - so areas the should be very similar dark are clearly separated. This is also noticeable at my side and I think that NVG's image comes very close to this "8bit" look and this is quiet normal- but its far less noticeable at my side - which-ever lightning gain I set on the NVG . To fix this and make it less visible you must change this in your display-settings and not on your monitor. (if this would only be visible in front of the Mon. and not on this screen shots - you would have to change the setting directly on your monitor.) Try to use the display-calibration-wizard of the CCC. Edited January 1, 2012 by PeterP
Rainmaker Posted January 1, 2012 Author Posted January 1, 2012 You are definetely on to something here.... I made it worse! :) Will keep messing around with it some. Thank you!
PeterP Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 (edited) I made it worse! :) Ha-ha! Now do it the opposite way!:) And while we are on it: Maybe you want to exchange your focus.png with a much more realistic one - not so terrible stretched any more. Preview for 4600x900: Now: >>default focus.png : After: >>edited focus.png : Its a flaw in the handling of the post-motion-effect . DCS stretches it always at the whole resolution. More on this matter: NVG ANVS-9 more REAL... In the zip is also a backup of the default focus.png Edited January 1, 2012 by PeterP
Rainmaker Posted January 1, 2012 Author Posted January 1, 2012 Actually, since you mention it. I have been following that thread on the NVG mod for a while now. I have patiently waiting until you are hopefully able to get it running in x64 in fullscreen. :)
PeterP Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 ;) Actually a advanced programmer promised me to have a look at it - we will see...
Rainmaker Posted January 1, 2012 Author Posted January 1, 2012 Well, after much trial and error, I cannot get rid of this. By adjusting the gamma, contrast, brightness...I only effect how much I can physically see it, but all of it is still there. Whatever it is, it's attatched to the canopy as it moves in relation to the aircraft movement. Gonna keep trying...
theghost Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 hi, I had a similar problem Try to change to 32 bit instead of 16 screen resolution I hope this helps you The 147 Squadron commander "The Goring Ram"
Rainmaker Posted January 2, 2012 Author Posted January 2, 2012 hi, I had a similar problem Try to change to 32 bit instead of 16 screen resolution I hope this helps you That was one of the first things I checked... Tried and failed.
Bushmanni Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Do you have HDR on? I had the same problem and it was fixed by turning it on. 1 DCS Finland: Suomalainen DCS yhteisö -- Finnish DCS community -------------------------------------------------- SF Squadron
Rainmaker Posted January 7, 2012 Author Posted January 7, 2012 Do you have HDR on? I had the same problem and it was fixed by turning it on. Thank you very much for this... TBH, the last thing I thought about was actually having to turn something back "ON". This, in fact, does fix it. Haven't really tested it enough to see if it is taxing on frames for me or not. Thank you! :)
theghost Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 hi, Is there a way to change the hue lighter green as in BS? The 147 Squadron commander "The Goring Ram"
SmokeyTheLung Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 hi, Is there a way to change the hue lighter green as in BS? Yes, if I'm understanding you. Look for the NVG gain up/down commands. Can't remember the keyboard commands off hand System specifications: Computer, joystick, DCS world, Beer
theghost Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 hi, I do not mean the intensity of light but the green color of night vision The 147 Squadron commander "The Goring Ram"
