Label Problem

Yeah I play with labels. I'm not good enough to not use them yet, so bear with me.

Playing the HQ interdiction mission during the campaign, I managed to successfully get behind enemy lines to where the HQ should have been but I was unable to find it. Flying over the area, pausing the game, turning the cockpit off, and zooming in (Very unsportsman like, even for a label user ;) ) I found... some trucks! but they didn't have labels! after blowing one of them up, the labels for all of them miraculously turned on!

 

My question is, yes I know its cheating, but is there a way to have all the labels on all the time??

Switch them on or off (toggle) with L shift F10:smilewink:

Will this work for all units though? Labels were on but just the labels for the HQ were missing...

If they were static objects they don't get labels.

They werent though; once I blew one of them up they all magically got labels

Maybe they're set to start late but be visible before starting (select one in the ME to see), and started by a trigger when the group takes some damage. Which would mean no, you can't have a label till they're active units (unless you modify the mission to have them active throughout).

I have seen this in 2 of the Georgia Hammer campaigns.

 

One is a Headquarters area near some hills and in fairly close proximity to an enemy

FARP that launches Hinds later in the mission.

 

There is another with a line of trucks on a road, fairly close to an artillery battery.

 

I found both on a lark, after having hit the nearby targets, Mk. I picked them out,

and after popping one in each, the labels appeared.

 

It has been that way since way back, but I have flown the campaigns often enough

to know where they are...

Yes! The farp that spawns the hinds is the one! I was like mm mmm mmm finger licking good!

Then I remembered I got hit by a man pad and no longer had my gun.

Is there a way to modify the way the labels are shown? I'm not quite good enough yet to turn the labels off, but if I could change them so they were always just a small off color dot, and not turn into the big label they become once you get closer that would be perfect.

For this mission, just use the steerpoint named HQ... SPI this steerpoint tyou will find them easely.
