skullcrusher Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 I bought DCS Blackshark and was really impressed with the interactive enviroment, but I was never a big helicopter fan. When I saw that they came out with the A-10C and read the reviews I thought it looked like something I could spend a lot of enjoyable time learning about. I bought A-10C and have been having problems. My computer is 5 years old with the 32 bit Windows OS. My graphics cards are NVIDIA GeForce 9800GTs. I am only getting about 25-30 fps during gameplay. Sometimes the game is choppy and really unplayable. My question is this. Does this game play smooth and realistic on a newer computer? I would be willing to buy a new system to play a really good sim. Thanks for your time.
Mustang Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 Your first big problem there is the 32 bit OS you use, even with relatively old hardware a step-up to a 64 bit OS can help alot.

Lane Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 (edited) 30fps in this simulator is not a so big problem, even with an I7 2600K @ 5ghz, all maxxed in the settings ( with mods for terrain textures and higerr visibility ) ..... im not in the 60fps all the time .. the CPU and the memory available have a big importance .... if you can have allready a x64 OS this will be a good thing... the game ( its not a game, its a simulator ) is incredibly tasking for your cpu and memory and have been made for x64 OS system first .... but dont expect to jump to 100fps then. even at lower resolution... the fps ( the framerate ) is not option to look there, ther thing you look is just you are playing smoothly ....... Also I never get more than 20FPS but it is still very smooth which is far more important than FPS in my opinion. A decent CPU is required and really I would highly recommend Win7 64 bit. Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing

Yeah it runs fine on my setup which isn't particularly amazing. As for the water plumes it does occasionally look like they fall slower than what's right but then the shells are bloody heavy. Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing

I have Core i5-750, 4GB RAM, HD5770 1GB, Win 7 64-bit and it's smooth and stable for me and around 25 fps in campaign.
