ZQuickSilverZ Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 I have recently joined what they call a flotilla. The 17th Flotilla to be specific. Playing Silent Hunter 3 really is a blast. These guys are very helpful and professional to. Playing Silent Hunter 3 a lot like sniping. What to know what I mean? Join us for a game and find out. Silent Hunter 3 is cheap to. Direct2Drive has it for $9.95. It made game of the year in 2005. Much like IL2 it has been modded to a great degree. For that price why not take a chance and try it out. It is good. I promise. See you online. http://nordfront.org/xvii-forums/index.php I need, I need, I need... What about my wants? QuickSilver original. "Off with his job" Mr Burns on the Simpsons. hog_driver111th Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 If any of you have SH5, that would be cool to make a wolfpack. I have done MP with a friend of mine before. Sucks though that you can't start from the subpen. Speed Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 (edited) SH3>SH4>>>SH5 They REALLY went downhill. SH3 is great, but I just can’t afford the time to play it multiplayer. Maybe once or twice though. SH4 was ok, but it was annoyingly buggy. Besides, SH4 got really, really old after I sunk the Yamato for the 10nth time. Jap destroyers were horrid at ASW, and the number of Japanese merchantmen and warships was ridiculous. I sunk over a dozen battleships and never even got depth-charged. Way too many targets and torpedoings, and no chance of dying- just spoils to the fun. The best part of SH4 was using the advanced US submarine sonar to get a firing solution and sink ships without ever even raising the periscope. As far as SH3 goes, there have been the numerous times were I just barely survived, or was killed. The number of times I managed to sink a carrier or a battleship, out of a few hundred hours of play, I can count on my hands. I distinctly remember a time, after torpedoing a convoy with my Type IX, that I took a nasty string of depth charges. The crew was screaming, I had them furiously working on repairs- I sank, and sank and sank. Ordered a surface, and kept sinking. I ordered flank speed, and at 187 meters, my depth meter stopped sinking. I was still negatively buoyant, but lift of the bow planes at flank speed was enough to keep me from passing below crush depth. Meanwhile, the boat was making some really bad noises... stuff was bursting, but the crew managed to plug the leaks. Depth charges were coming down, but they were set too shallow... finally was able to restore neutral buoyancy, go back to silent running, and shake the destroyer. SH4 was just a real yawn fest in comparison. As far as SH5 goes- has it been modded to be fun and playable yet? You still need a constant internet connection to play multiplayer? SH is my game-away-from-gaming- I play it when I have free time, electricity, but no internet access. Not a chance in HELL that I buy SH5 if it requires a constant internet connection for SINGLE player. wingtip Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 I have had sh2,3,4... still play 4 but havent tried mp in a long time..doubt i can even remember my ubi login... i stayed away from sh5 due to all the bugs, missing standard features, and stupid DRM that is now finally removed i believe... also have dangerous waters but there is one particular thing i cant stand in it that keeps me from playing it more often.. If you guys wanted to do a sh4 mp mission sometime i'd be up to it... Dave Townsend http://www.indyhelis.com
