agrasyuk Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 Currently i run 24" 1920*1200 monitor for visuals and 19" underneath for helios and MFCD export. both run of GTX470 (with quite acceptable performance) which means all the display connections are taken. now i was thinking to get more monitors, starting with 15" touchscreen to run Helios CDU and/or radios. to try things out I installed old 9600GT (which is sitll somewhat plausible card) and moved the instrumentation monitor to run from it. the performance hit was immidiatley felt even without bringing up FPS. thats even before i turned on TGP, just the TAD alone was enough. so the question arises - which card? even those SLI will not work windowed, i was thinking to get another GTX470. besides the fact i do not have that much to spend, from what i read that any performance gains from 570 are barely felt. your opinion on pair of 470'ies? while CPU is quite ok (2500K OCed to 4Ghz) and there is plenty of airflow in antec1200 case i have somewhat doubts about PSU. Antec truepower 650W is SLI sertified, has another pair of 6pin (6 and 6+2 actually) so i will not need to venture into molex adapter area. i read system +pair of 470 pulls 570Watts from the socket. it seems doable but kinda getting close to my comfort zone. your thougths on PSU? I definately agree that the PSU is likely to be an issue. I would probably want a solid 1000watts for me to comfortable running two of those cards, but I tend to be over-cautious where my power is concerned. agrasyuk Posted January 11, 2012 Author Posted January 11, 2012 lol, well 1000 would be quite an overkill. yes i guess i'm going to break the promise of never having 2 vid cards in PC i made to myself. but i most definetly will not run 3 lol :) i see recommendations for 700-775. but i reaaallly would not want to change supply units now. borrowed friends "kilawat" to measure how much this thing pulls from the wall with one card.
