I am confused that sometimes the PAC works well and sometimes it doesn't.(I've set to GUN/PAC):helpsmilie:I guss you must have ever run into this problem.

Without a track I'd have to guess that it's because you have either not trimmed the aircraft properly prior to your attack and/or you are extending the speed brakes when diving on to the target an therefore exceeding the LAAPs control authority.

lol, mine too. But why does speedbrake affect control authority. I thought they where symmetric? Does pac use aileron separation for control inputs???

Next time you're flying, trim for straight and level flight, turn off all the SAS channels and then extend the speed brakes. You'll notice the aircraft pitch up, this effect is normally countered by the SAS, as the system has limited control authority by deployed speed brakes especially if not perfectly trimmed you are likely to exceed the control authority available to the LAAP. Hence it can't compensate for gun recoil.

Additionally, IRL speed brakes are not used for gun runs, or other diving attacks. Speed is good, you want the extra speed the dive gives you, for the escape manoeuvre and to evade any enemy fire that may come your way.

I was going to post this question until I came up on this thread. I've always used the speed brakes to get that little bit of extra time lining up my target. But this does makes sense.

I can't believe the level of detail put into this game, it still boggles my mind.

DCS series = best thing to come along in the flight sim world, ever, in my opinion. Can't wait for P-51D!

One of the times we check during a launch...pilot opens speed brakes and we visually verify the elevators go down when open and back up when closed...

Done right after we check SAS rudder kick left and right...

ACFT Launch...

i. Pitch trim compensator - Check.

Open speed brakes to 40%. Crew chief verifies elevator trailing edge moves down approximately 1 inch. Close speed brakes and note elevator

moves up.
