What is the purpose of the red throttle cover with remove before flight flag on it? It is in many pics of the Hawg cockpit, on the right throttle. I am only guessing it is there to protect the throttles switches hats etc from the pilots boots as they climb in and out of the cockpit.

I've spend many hours looking for items the pilot lost or broke in the pit...not fun being under a raised ACES II for hours looking for crap!

What's the strangest thing you ever found?

Nothing that stands out as strange but pilots have lost pens, pencils, screws from NVGs, knobs, switchs, change (money)...you name it...if they can loose it they will. ;)

The only plus, in the "old days" (back in the 90s) if a pilot lost something in the pic they bought the crew chief a case of beer....haven't had that happen in a while, last few pilots just said "Chief, I lost X, Y, Z" and the searching begins...

Egress would get a case of beer when a pilot ejected, but we wouldn't get crap when they had to use the EPU system. I remember when this dumb pilot fired the EPU on the ground...right before shift change. We were pissed, he also lied and said he didn't fire it, we looked in the pit and saw the switch up....idiot!
