Hi, I am building up my new gaming machine now, and wondering what kind of setup will be decent enough to run LOFC series at the highest setting, with FPS no lower than 30. I intend to play it on a single 42 inch LED TV (or something like that) at the standard resolution 1,920x1,080.

Currently I run LOFC2 on macbook pro with 2.2 GHz core 2 duo cpu, 8600MGT with 128mb VR, and 4G of DDRII memory, at a setting in between low and medium, with fair smoothness most of the time, only occasional jump of frames.

So, what do you guys think? I am more concerned with the future releases in the LO series. Thanks guys.

Dependa first on whether you intend to use a docked laptop or a real stationary, and what your budget is. I would probably say an i5 2500k with a good cooler, a gtx560ti, and 8gb RAM. You can then add things to that as budget allows, or possibly also wait for Ivy bridge which is a couple months out.

Hi EthereaIN, thanks for your quick reply.

I am more concerned with the future releases in the LO series, since I do not plan to update the system very often. But since LOFC3 is not no where to be smelled yet, this might not be a valid question at this stage. I wish that the ED team will release enough information asap.

Personally, I don't expect Fc3 to be a huge hog, since it doest have as complex flight modeling and so on to do. But yes, it is way too early to comment on system requirements for fc3. ED can't release information it doesn't have. :)

If Fc3 is specifically what you are looking at, and you are not interested in BS2 or A10, I'd say wait until it is released with purchasing a new computer. That said, my own expectation is that my system will have no problems with FC3, but obviously I don't know that for sure since, well, it's not done yet. :)

I might try A10 in the DCS series in the future. The system you suggested is sufficient for the current version of DCS:A10?

I plan on getting a 2500k, 6970/7970 or 580, SSD and about 8-12GB of ram. Should get it in about 6 weeks if everything goes right. It all depends on how much I want to spend and what the prices are at the time.

i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED

If you plan to go AMD, i'd definately take something from the Soutern Islands (HD7XXX) architecture, they use a smaller manufacturing process, that means more bang per Watt and better OCing. The problem is that the drivers seem to still be problematic and prices are high, so it depends on when you wanna purchase exactly.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

Yup. It is pretty much what I use, runs a-10 at pretty much max settings.
