Hi all :

I am facing a problem that unable me to fly correctly on hypperloby or with other friends :

My configuration :

AMD 64 X2 4600+

ATI X800 Pro

1GB Ram

Internet is via a router Linksys and is provided by the cable.

2MB down

400KB up

LockOn 1.1 with STUTTERING fix installed.

I used Norton antivirus and Norton Firewall under Windows XP SP1.

It was working perfectly in the past year and suddenly I had big lag or STUTTERING, I dont know exactly the difference.

No matter if I disable Norton antivirus or firewall, didn't change anything.

I am now unable to fly with others because this STUTTERING is very high.

I decided to reinstall completely my system and put Windows XP SP2 and Avast antivirus.

The problem is the same ! :(

If I host a game, when in external view, my plane is ok, the IA units also, but when I look at other planes, I have big lags/STUTTERING.

Any idea what can I do to correct the problem ?

thanks for your help !

It might be the fact that Lomac doesnt like being run on dual-core or multiple CPU machine. The program (and all its associated data in any cache area) will get swapped back and forward between the two cpus/cores (whichever one is available when it needs to be run), and this can cause stuttering.

There is an app out their called "procaff" that allows you start Lomac, and make it stay running ONLY on one of the cpus/cores.

Of course, it may not be this that is causing the problem... so its only a suggestion

oh, something else to add to this... applications inherit their processor "affinity" from the parent process. So if you are running Lokon from Hyperlobby, make Hyperlobby run on one processor... when HL fires up Lockon, it too will only run on one processor...

use procaff to force the game to run on 1 core, i have same problem, i cant connect via HL i have to connect via ip after i use procaff to sort out the core issue..

Thanks for your answers !

Yes, it could be the problem since I changed the CPU recently from single to dual.

I went to this page for procaff :

http://www.stefan-kuhr.de/procaff/main.php3

But it says that it is for Windows NT or 2000 OS.

I have Windows XP, does it still work ?!

By the way, sorry to disturb you with this, but I do not really understand how it works, or what must I do to have it work correctly.

Thanks for all your help, I appreciate,

yup

click on the shortcut for lockon, then click on properties, then insert this into the begining of the target box, dont delet what is already there, just add this to the beginning, then click apply..

procaff.exe /run 1

make sure there is a space after the 1

lockon shortcut should now look like this:

procaff.exe /run 1 "C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Eagle Dynamics\Lock On\LOCKON.EXE"

once you have clicked apply and ok, open it back up and see if it has changed to this:

C:\WINDOWS\procaff.exe /run 1 "C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Eagle Dynamics\Lock On\LOCKON.EXE"

if it has you are good to go

also put the procaff file into ur windows folder, jus paste it there, and all is good, you may find more than 1 game may need this, for example, if you install a new game, and it gives you 1fps on startup then do the same for that game as it is most probably dude to DC that will be causing it..

Unless you do the same for HL dont join games by HL, join by ip instead, cuz it will stil stutter unless you do it for HL aswell...

quick question- what version of windows do you use, as if you use xp home, home doesnt support dualcore fully, you need xp pro to use dualcore proeprly

Yes, works fine under XP (VVS504 server uses procaff and running on XP Pro)

Follow Evil-Scotsman's explaination and it will work just fine...

no prob dude, i hope it works out for ya

The 'procaff' addition must be in the "target" line, not the "start in " line,

which actually requires a valid, existing folder(name).

one never read my instructions properly, did one ? did you not notice the insert in the TARGET BOX ?

glad its working for ya now tho ;)

also by lookin at your screenshots, you also put the whole procaff folder into your windows folder, you only needed to put the procaff exe file/app into the windows folder, not the whole procaff folder, as i suspect it would not of worked when you had the whole procaff folder in the windows directory. but hey, you sorted it out in the end, cool....
