Update #2:

Just in case someone might be interested - here is a 300dpi scan of an original (and slightly damaged :() TACAN panel:

The panel is dated 1988 and has 5 red lights for backlighting.

Clarification of the text and error correction in drawings

NVIS-Version: http://www.hooverae.com/upload/files/140212/3874537.jpeg :music_whistling:

The main reason I bought it was to get the mechanical part of the frequency selector. That'd be too much of a hassle to replicate.

I guess apart from the edge lights, there won't be any difference to the panel.

However, there is no such thing as too much reference material, right? :smilewink:

Missing cross corrected, 2nd digit circle and lettering corrected.

Hum I would not call it to much reference, but I would ask why post it if you have a drawing for the NVIS panel , I have not seen that link before not to bad.

The pointer circle at the second digit should have a black circle in it though. The panel is all so missing the cross off to the left of TEST

CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.

First I start a thread about the crosses and right after that I forget it on a drawing!

Well spotted Deadman!

As for the dot - that one is actually missing for a reason (at least I think so): Unlike the sim, the first digit (from the right) is controlled by the outer ring. Thus the circle for the first digit. The second digit is controlled by the inner knob and thus there is only a dot representig the knob and not a circle at the end of the line. I haven't seen any other version (but that doesn't mean that there aren't).

The reason why I posted the non-NVIS version first was that it gives you a hint where to place the lights for the backlighting. In the other version I simply erased the holes (which would be easy for anyone to do).

Cheers,

Stefan

this panel has a new NVIS panel i have not had it apart so i am not sure on the date the second pane is and older real panel i had you will notice the difference in the test light and that it had surface mounted edge lighting.

There is a slight difference in the knob markers as well.

You learn something new every day.

Remind me to never argue with you again! :surrender: :smilewink:

However, the lettering of the NVIS panel looks somewhat like a rush job to me. The dot/ring icons made more sense than the new ones and so does the A/A T/R compared to the A/AT/R.

Nevertheless, that's the way it is...

Cheers,

Stefan
