Invisibull Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Hi all - I've seen this topic discussed in other places, but my problem is slightly different i believe. After a number of months away from this sim, I re-installed last week and have just started getting back up to speed with everything. My problem is that up until yesterday, I could dive at perhaps 30 degrees and the CCIP reticle would pop out from under the nose of the plane, and I'd more often than get some decent kills w/cbu-97's as a result. Yesterday this all changed for some reason. Now, it seems i need to be damned near pointing toward the ground before i see the reticle. I suspect that I've inadvertently changed some setting or another, either in the sim or perhaps in TrackIr. Any ideas? i9 9900k - GTX 2080 Ti - MSI Z87 GD65 Mobo - 64GB HyperX Predator RGB DDR4 3200MHz - Win10 64 bit - TM Warthog w FSSB R3 mod - TrackIr 5.
Invisibull Posted February 14, 2012 Author Posted February 14, 2012 By way of an update, I happened to do a flight over by Tbilisi and the reticle once again showed up at about 30 degrees into my dive as i'd come to expect. I still, however, get no luck in other areas of the map. Is it an elevation issue? I ask this because the radar to baro altitude disparity is substantial around Tbilisi as compared with the flatter areas I prefer to build missions in. i9 9900k - GTX 2080 Ti - MSI Z87 GD65 Mobo - 64GB HyperX Predator RGB DDR4 3200MHz - Win10 64 bit - TM Warthog w FSSB R3 mod - TrackIr 5.
Turk10mm Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 I have the same problem. If I'm not at 50+ degrees nose down I don't ever get a solid pipper. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Recruiting open for A-10C and/or KA-50 Squadrons http://www.firstfighterwing.com/forums/content.php
159th_Viper Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 I suspect that I've inadvertently changed some setting or another, either in the sim or perhaps in TrackIr. You have not. Previous modelling was not correct - the behaviour at present it. In order to deliver 97/105's via CCIP you need to dive steeper from higher, reasons as follows quoted from an earlier thread and related by BlueRidgeDx: The submunitions are retarded, and fall vertically using parachutes. This means there will be a very high sight depression (the angular measurement between the Zero Sight Light (ZSL) and the CCIP pipper). The lower, slower, and more shallow you are, the higher the depression. Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? Click me to commence your Journey of Pillage and Plunder! Turk10mm Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 It sure seems difficult to put them on target this way. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Recruiting open for A-10C and/or KA-50 Squadrons http://www.firstfighterwing.com/forums/content.php
Invisibull Posted February 14, 2012 Author Posted February 14, 2012 Thanks for your responses, but, you're not explaining why it works at 30 deg. dive in one place, and over 50 deg in another. Eddie, 3/9 displays the same behavior for me. Also, CBU -87's seem to need less of an angle (when dropped on the exact same terrain as the 97's). I could accept that this is properly modeled, but not that i need to dive in excess of 50 degrees to deploy 97's in one place, but 30 degrees in another. It's to the point, on occasion, that I need to be diving straight down 90deg before i can even glimpse the reticle. And I've tested this from a starting altitude of 20k. If I'm not understanding something, please accept my apologies in advance. i9 9900k - GTX 2080 Ti - MSI Z87 GD65 Mobo - 64GB HyperX Predator RGB DDR4 3200MHz - Win10 64 bit - TM Warthog w FSSB R3 mod - TrackIr 5.
159th_Viper Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 .....or 5Mil. You cannot - 97's not wired for 5Mil. Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? Be careful not to compare 87's with 97's - 87 modelling irrelevant in any discussion pertaining to 97's. As for the behaviour of your 97's, further explanations in the absence of tracks is virtually impossible. I/We are left to assume everything, including your attitude at delivery, speed, altitude etc etc, making any form of troubleshooting/advice a crapshoot at best. We need to see tracks :) Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? Click me to commence your Journey of Pillage and Plunder! Eddie Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 You cannot - 97's not wired for 5Mil. With 5mil selected you'll get a 3/9 CR with a 97/105 profile selected. Best practice is always to select a CR option, it's there when required and will have no effect if the pipper tracks I to the HUD FOV during delivery. And wiring has nothing to do with it. ;)
159th_Viper Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 (edited) And wiring has nothing to do with it. ;) Relax - was a figure of speech, akin to 'I'm not wired for..........' :D Point stands - 5Mil is a non-starter, lest confusion sets in.
