Drona Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Hi guys, just a question here. I've just upgraded my RAM from the current 4GB DDR3-1333 to 8GB using another 4GB stick of the same model. Win7 64-bit shows that the RAM has 8 GB. My question is do i have it running in dual channel mode? (Yes... I've placed the RAM in same colored slots). The reason I ask this is because I do not see much of performance improvement in FC2 or BS1 or during system bootup or when running apps like Photoshop etc making me believe that I have not activated something to enable dual channel? Is that even right? I have a CPU-Z report attached. Sorry... but I'm not that technical to understand what all the numbers mean :doh:CPUZ Report.txt
blackbelter Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Check this webpage: http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/Everything-You-Need-to-Know-About-the-Dual-Triple-and-Quad-Channel-Memory-Architectures/133/9 In my opinion, you can see a performance boost by enabling dual channel only if the memory in your system is the bottleneck. Even so, the increase in performance will probably be too small to make a noticeable effect. 1
Kuky Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 You shoulnd't see any performance increase by adding this extra RAM, only thing you'll see better is to be able to load more applications into it :) PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
Drona Posted February 21, 2012 Author Posted February 21, 2012 Ah... thanks for clearing that up for me guys.... So I do have it running in dual channel mode. :D
