BullsEye Posted September 27, 2005 Posted September 27, 2005 have you connect the power supply to the card? or you have only inserted in the slot (pci or agp)?
Stratos Posted September 27, 2005 Author Posted September 27, 2005 Installed in the AGP slot and installed the power supply, but someone tell me that with my PIV, the CD recorder, HD and dvd player will not have enough power A point to consider?? : my old card sometimes make reboot my pc!! No enough power maybe?? I don't understand anything in russian except Davai Davai!
Stratos Posted September 27, 2005 Author Posted September 27, 2005 It seems that my PS is this: ATX 500W and my Mother Board is a AsRock P4V88 (S.ATA, Raid, Dual CH ) It will be a problem of power suply?? What PS I will need?? I don't understand anything in russian except Davai Davai!
Guest EVIL-SCOTSMAN Posted September 27, 2005 Posted September 27, 2005 i would suggest another power unit, even tho its a 500wat, it could be a total crap 500watt psu with only 12 amps on the 12v rail, but even then it should still power your card, the error you get, is it a bios or boot screen error or do you see the error in windows ? also, the extra power cable that you connected to the video card, is it connect directly from the power unit to the card and nothing else but the video card is attached to the power wire. Because if you have say a hardrive and cd drive and the video card connected to one power cable then it may not have the power to run the card properly. if you can post the exact wording of the error we may be able to help you, presuming that its just not a shagged psu thats the problem, but even if it was a crap 500watt psu then that should still run a 6600 unless the psu was damaged... please tell us exactly what the error says and where about you see the error, like do you see the error when you first turn on the pc before windows loads, or do you see the error when windows has loaded and you can see your desktop etc...
Stratos Posted September 28, 2005 Author Posted September 28, 2005 Ok, cannot say exactly the error at the moment, will stay out of cpu until sunday but the error appears in the windows desktop and says something similar to this: Gforce Card cannot run properly cause is not receiving enough power. Check that the card is connected properly ( already checked ) and that the power suply can give enough power. Repeat, that message apear once in windows, all the screen is garbled but still functional. Only windows works not tried any game or graphical aplication I don't understand anything in russian except Davai Davai!
Pilotasso Posted September 28, 2005 Posted September 28, 2005 Its certainly strange that a 500W PSu cant suply enough power. As said above, try using 1 of the power suplies plugs just for your GFX card. Mine is set this way. It could even be that you have a defective card. Or even that your PSU is damaged. You would be surprised how frequent it is for a PSU to blow and take the rest of the PC with it. .
Stratos Posted September 28, 2005 Author Posted September 28, 2005 MMM is strange but now I'm not getting a error of energy, but the icons of the desktop are totally garbled, and the card cannot run any graphic aplication. Maybe I should try a HD format?? I don't understand anything in russian except Davai Davai!
Stratos Posted September 28, 2005 Author Posted September 28, 2005 I'm now downloading the latest drivers from Nvidia page, anyone know wht drivers will be the better for this card?? I don't understand anything in russian except Davai Davai!
504MrWolf Posted September 28, 2005 Posted September 28, 2005 ive had this same problem with my FX5900XT since i bought it !! I was running a 450watt Q-Tec which was pretty good but Nvidia added this power watch tool to their drivers and now all i get is this error message "not enough power for card, lowering settings so your card doesnt get damaged" (not exact) But the thing is im not running a 450watt crappy power pack im running an expensive 600w gaming Vortec PSU and still i get this error !!!!!! Just this week its got sooo bad it has started doing it in windows and 2d app's like photoshop !! Ive never found an answer to this problem. www.VVS504.co.uk www.lockonskins.co.uk

I hate nvidia for adding it ! www.VVS504.co.uk www.lockonskins.co.uk
Stratos Posted September 28, 2005 Author Posted September 28, 2005 I readed that it can be a rendering problem, maybe this can cause the odd icons on my desktop. Anyway to desabilitate this?? I don't understand anything in russian except Davai Davai!
504MrWolf Posted September 28, 2005 Posted September 28, 2005 im running this PSU http://hi-techreviews.com/reviews/Vortec600/P2.htm From the start we figured the Vortec 600 would display some pretty good number in our tests but we were even more surprised when we say the results. To be able to run the test we put it through and still only fluctuate a maximum of .24 volts is really amazing. So what you is one gorgeous looking power supply that offers you rock solid stable rail voltages and if that's not enough the all the cables are completely sheathed. Plus let's not forget the ability to use the power supply on a 24-pin motherboard. I other words it has it all. That's why we feel it is reserving in receiving our 5-Star Award which we reserve for products that we feel offer that let extra that make them a good buy for our readers So it cant be my PSU www.VVS504.co.uk www.lockonskins.co.uk
504MrWolf Posted September 28, 2005 Posted September 28, 2005 ive just been to my cards manufactuers forums and there are many threads on the same error, going to post my own. www.VVS504.co.uk www.lockonskins.co.uk
Guest EVIL-SCOTSMAN Posted September 28, 2005 Posted September 28, 2005 try older drivers that dont have that power watch tool, as i had 59u ages ago 2 years+. which i dont recall had that tool so maybe the older drivers will help ? i dunno, 6600gt dude have you used the drivers that came with your video card if you havent already? as now that some other person has said he suffers same thing, i dont think a new psu will help, if him and a crapload of other people have experienced it. but i do agree that fx59** are one power hungry mofos but 6600gt are not so that is strange, i guess its just lovely nvidia codeing..
Stratos Posted September 28, 2005 Author Posted September 28, 2005 Is Wooooooooorkinggggg!!!! Yiiiiipiiiiiiii!!! I erased the old drivers and installed the newest ones!! available on the nvidia page, don't know why but all is corrected now!! I can run Lomac at twice the original speed with a lot better graphics!!. The readme of the new drivers say that my card have a problem with rendering, that is solved just in that driver!! Great!! Can't wait to return from my trip the Sunday to get some flight!! Thank's to all for your help!! I don't understand anything in russian except Davai Davai!
