I had the same problems using the fspilotshop download.... I was using ie and instead changed over to firefox and still had the same problems. I ended up getting it direct from ROF website and using firefox and that combination worked fine (HTTP). I did give their torrent manager a bash but gave up as it was too slow. All in all I ended up wasting an hour or two and about 10gb in aborted downloads.

ROF I have flown for a few hours and I personally think it is pure gold ;) and worth the effort.

CloD is good but doesn't feel as nice as wings of prey to me (even though wings of prey is not a fantastic sim it does the job). CloD is good don't get me wrong, but I think it is missing that "something".

Now, ive been trying to download Rise of Flight for 3 days now without success, I dont need a free licence key but I would like the demo to see if it floats my boat.

Tried the torrent above, the exe torrent and the http - crap.

Well, just for my own satisfaction, I downloaded the demo from the first HTTP option. It took about 63 minutes. That speed is as good or better than I get from Steam, FYI.

I know that does nobody any good if you still can’t download it. To that end I am going to make an offer to mail a DVD of the demo to anyone that can’t get it themselves. You will, of course, still need internet access to authenticate the game and to use the career mode, not to mention MP. The game is also going to want to update itself when it comes up the first time which will require a few 100MB download.

I will also include a second DVD containing all of the currently released historical and fictional skinpacks (another 4+GB) which includes a huge number of additional skins for the various aircraft. They are available from the 777 website at no cost.

It will be regular mail so it may take a while depending on where you are, obviously.

I am not going to put a limit on this initially but if I get too many requests I might have too.

If you want to take me up on this please send a PM. Also, please give a decent shot at downloading yourself before asking. Thanks.

P.S. In case you are wondering, I am in no way affiliated with 777 or Rise of Flight.

Can you elaborate a little more on "that something"? I really have this itch to dogfight in warbirds. I went to the banana forum in search of patch eta, but there's no definite answer. I think one of the developers or PR guy wrote it's around the corner.

I'm definitely getting this in a few days.

I'd say, from my own perspective, that the "something" is that CloD feels a bit clunky. There's something hard to point at in it's polish that just isn't there. But the dogfighting is still excellent, and the modelling of the aircraft systems are pretty okey (though not DCS level, of course :) )

People are going to expect an essay on that in the morning.

Btw, what happened to the long COD thread that was here? I could use it right about now.

It (and the BMS thread) had become so extensive that we felt it better to encourage those discussions to take place on their relevant developer/publisher forums. After all, it would be weird to have the Skyrim forums become a repository for Dragon Age tips/tricks/troubleshooting/etc. :)

As for essays, people will just have to wait. :)

You can't get it from Steam in the first place. I was just comparing DL speeds.

The whole point of the discussion is that people are having trouble getting it from ROF's site.
