Bug description:

Crashes frequently in multiplayer games as client. Happens a few minutes into the game and when it has happened once I can no longer connect to any servers as the game crashes when connecting (as soon as the slot selection menu should appear). Haven't noticed anything particular that triggers the crash but single player seems OK so far (I bought BS2 yesterday). Restarting the comp gets me another few minutes of playing time.

Steps to reproduce / Conditions of occurence

...

PC Configuration

Pentium D 820 2.8Ghz (Not overclocked)

Dell 0HJ054 Motherboard with i945P/PL/G/GZ chipset

4GB DDR2 RAM

Nvidia Geforce 9600 GT Driver version 296.10 (latest)

Regular DVD-R

Cable modem 10 Mbit

Saitek X35T/X36F HOTAS

Windows XP Home Edition SP3

DirectX 9.0c

I didn't find any crash-logs. Where are they? Couldn't start multiplayer with --console either, but singleplayer works with that.

I run 32-bit. Seems like the /3GB trick did it (or a fresh install of DX9.0c i don't know). Thanks a lot!

Turns out that its quite not OK yet. Now it crashes 5-10 min into the game. Sometimes straight to desktop, sometimes crash-dialog ("JIT-debugger not installed"). Can still rejoin the game after a crash though. My bet it has something to do with my shaky internet-connection, I got disconnected once. Will look into it, but otherwise any help will be appreciated.

It is much more likely that it is the same problem as before, but the application takes longer to run out of memory. It is highly advisable that you switch to a 64bit operating system so you can use the 64bit executeable.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

What do you understand by shaky? Does the speed goes up and down quite a lot, or do you fight with persistand reconnects and disconnects?

I agree to this very much. That should actually fix all your issues so far. Win7 64Bit is not that much expensive anymore

Installing 64-bit Windows seems to have solved the problem. Thanks guys!
